Kentucky reported another Drake-related violation

Jumpman, jumpman, jumpman them boys up to something, once again.

This time, Kentucky self-reported a minor NCAA violation (very minor) involving Drake and Tyler Ulis. According to the hard-hitting, dirt-digging team over at The Herald-Leader, Drake’s crew invited Tyler Ulis backstage to see Drake after a concert last May. That qualifies as “involved preferential treatment,” apparently.

Here’s a photo from that night, posted on Ulis’ Instagram:

Kentucky declared Ulis ineligible until October 14 of last year.

We think it should preferential treatment that Drake got to meet Ulis. Have Drake’s label self report that.

I know people are going to get on here and be like “DRAKE NEEDS TO STAY AWAY FROM MY TEAM” or whatever. But a Secondary/Level III Violation is really minor and there is no punishment. The school is required to declare any student athlete ineligible until they receive clearance from the NCAA after any violation like that just in case the NCAA were to say it was worse than the school thought. It’s just a part of the process and usually the NCAA will declare the athlete eligible immediately (clearly since he never sat out).

Drake needs to stay away from the team, period, end of story. One of these days its getting us in serious trouble. I like Drake and glad he’s a UK fan, but he needs to be told to stay away before this all comes back to bite us.

As long as he isn’t giving the kids anything there is no problem. Only reason this was an issue was because Ulis was given access to a “backstage” area that wasn’t open to the public. Had the encounter taken place in the general population it isn’t even a minor violation.

Drake is worth the risk honestly. We might get in a little trouble every now and then but as long as hes not throwing out money and just taking pictures im okay with it.

Old people dont care about him… But old people arent 5 star recruits in rivals either.

I’m a 70 year Wildcat fan and think if a player gets into trouble it should be over a woman backstage.

If this is the worst thing that ever comes out, we will be alright. It could be hookers.

NCAA rules are ridiculous. That, or college recruiting is slimy. Maybe both are true.

when do we get to see two or three weeks worth of news about our former football player being a bank robber? just keep posting about the louisville strippers and we can keep pretending UK is nothing but choirboys.

Please edify us with regard to your comment. Honestly have not heard of this, but don’t live in Lex or Lou and seldom read the paper from either city.

Speaking of the Herald Leader, Tim Kelly lays out the Louisville Board of Trustees big time.
    Good piece.

Why exactly IS Drake a UK fan?

With all do respect I do not care how big a star he is. The only time he should have contact with a UK player is at Rupp with Sandy Bell close by.

i think the ncaa should be required to specifically publish every possible infraction before it can be an infraction. what about mc hammer? still a violation? what about tito jackson? my locally-famous cousin skeez who burns it up on the ukulele?

Drake is undeniably talented. I’m just happy for our players, it’s a really big deal for them.
