Kentucky Ranks Second In Attendance For The Second Straight Year

Via Wikimedia

The NCAA released attendance numbers for the 2014-2015 season earlier today and for only the third time in the past twenty years Kentucky was not on top. Here’s how the top five shook out:

1. Syracuse (23,854)

2. Kentucky (23,572)

3. Louisville (21,386)

4. North Carolina (19,582)

5. Wisconsin (17,279)

When you consider the official capacity for Rupp Arena is only 23,500 then that means Cawoods Court averaged over a sell-out for the entire season. Contrast that with Syracuse’s Carrier Dome which holds over 35,000 and their higher average attendance is a little less impressive.

The Cats also led the way in total attendance as they pursued a perfect season. Total peoples with eyes on Karl Towns for home, road and neutral games was 845,594. Runner-up Wisconsin brought in a distant 711,115.

We are college basketball.
