Kentucky turned a tight game into a 65-54 win thanks to a dominant final eight minutes in Gainesville.
A back and forth affair in the first half, Florida began to pull away once Tyler Herro picked up his second foul. He had ten points on 4-for-4 from the field when he was forced to the sideline for the final eight minutes of the half.
The Gators turned a 33-29 halftime lead into an 11-point advantage with 14 minutes remaining. After struggling to finish in the paint against Florida’s physical double-teams, the Cats came alive. UK used a 10-0 run to get within striking range, then closed the game by outscoring Florida 22-7 in the final eight minutes.
Herro led the Cats in scoring with 19 points, P.J. Washington had a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double and Keldon Johnson contributed 10 points and eight boards.
