John Calipari made a significant move on the recruiting trail Thursday evening.
In a Zoom conference call with the entire Kentucky coaching staff, 2022 five-star prospect Skyy Clark received a scholarship, making him the first guard in the rising junior class to earn an offer from the program.
“Man what a week it’s been,” Clark announced on his social media pages. “Blessings on blessings. Huge honor to receive an offer from Kentucky. Thank you to Coach Calipari, Coach Justus, Coach Payne, and Coach Barbee for believing in me. I am honored. All glory to God.”
After receiving the offer, Clark’s father, Kenny, told KSR that Coach Cal’s offer and the conversation as a whole was one they’ll always remember.
“Extremely amazing moment,” he said.
Clark, a consensus top-20 prospect in the 2022 class, joins Brandon Huntley-Hatfield as the lone prospects in the upcoming junior class to receive an offer.
The five-star guard out of Brentwood Academy (TN) has long been seen as a Kentucky lean, with rumblings behind the scenes indicating he could become one of the school’s next commitments, regardless of class.
At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Clark is considered one of the top ball handlers in all of high school basketball.
Just two weeks ago, KSR traveled down to Brentwood, TN to watch Clark play in an open pro run featuring the likes of Robert Covington of the Houston Rockets, Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and former Kentucky forward Alex Poythress.
