Kentucky No. 6 in Power Rankings

Luke Winn of came out with his weekly power rankings and looking at where are the elite team in the country. Kentucky checked in at No. 6 this week behind Michigan State, Oklahoma, Kansas, Maryland and Iowa State. In a glaring stat though, Winn points out the following:

I watched all 22 of Ulis’s catch-and-shoot attempts on film and just one has come on a post-up kick-out; all the others came on passes from fellow guards. This is the most rare action in Kentucky’s offense

That’s a horrible, horrible stat. Sure, the offense is more of the dribble-drive this year, but when the ball goes into the post, Ulis needs to relocate and Lee/Poythress/Skal need to look for the assist if the first move isn’t there. Winn gives some more stats on Ulis and the struggles offensively (which will change as the season goes on). Last year 36% of his shots were off the catch for 1.55 points per attempt. This year it’s just 28.6% for .41 points per attempt.

I swear, the first sentence (at least it resembles a sentence) looks like a middle school student wrote it. Everyone makes spelling mistakes, punctuation errors and so forth but some of you bloggers either don’t proofread, don’t care or slept a whole lot during English and creative writing classes. I think I’m going to start doing what some others do and not even bother reading posts unless they are written by Tyler, Drew, Matt, Nick, Freddie and probably a couple of others that I am forgetting. It’s just too irritating trying to decipher what some of these bloggers are trying to say. And if it’s not that it’s others that like to try and write about things that they clearly do not understand. Like, describing the frustration that fans felt during the Bill Curry era. Writing in a manner that almost makes you think they were there until you stop and think that the majority of the ones I am referring to weren’t even born when Curry coached his 1st season at UK. Once again, I’m not talking about the main contributors that I mentioned above. I think most people know who I’m referrring to. Sorry for the long rant!

Who is supposed to be passing back out to him? Skal? Isaac? Poythress is supposed to be charging the basket, and Lee only gets putbacks and lobs.
