Kentucky moves up one spot in the Coaches Poll

Kentucky’s two wins last week may have been enough for the AP voters to put them back in the top ten, but not the coaches. The Cats are No. 12 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll, up one spot from last week.

Gonzaga is also the No. 1 team in the Coaches Poll, followed by Baylor, Duke, Auburn, and Butler. Louisville is No. 10 (even though Kentucky beat them), Michigan State No. 14, and Ohio State No. 19. Texas Tech, Kentucky’s opponent in the Big 12/SEC Challenge later this month, is No. 23.

UK’s the 4th three loss team. Last week had a couple trap games that were not resume builders. Despite Arkansas’ ranking, their strength of schedule makes them also more of a trap than a resume builder. USC is also a trap game. Gotta put a streak and big margins of victory together to impress poll voters. Also need a few more players to generate statistically relevant games. The Cats don’t own the other factors in their rankings – higher ranked teams need some losses.

I call bull crap. We already beat one of those 3 loss teams. And as far as margin of victory…doesn’t mean crap. A win in conference play is a win. Not buying “need a few more players to generate statically relevant games.” Who cares? It’s a team game. W is a W..

Come on Bluehender if we don’t win by 30 it’s a loss. Didn’t you know that? Lol.

The polls this year are worthless still. It’ll be mid Feb before it works itself out better.
