Kentucky MBB 2019-20 Roster is Officially Set

(UK Athletics)

As we inch closer and closer to basketball season, the Kentucky basketball team has released the official roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

While we’ve covered updates on this team as much as possible here at KSR, there are still some notable tidbits that UK dropped, including players official weight and height.

For the returning players such as Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley, Nick Richards, and EJ Montgomery, they all added some muscle over the course of the offseason. According to UK Athletics previous stats, Hagans added six pounds to his frame (up to 198 lbs) while Quickley (188 lbs), Richards (247 lbs), and Montgomery (228 lbs) all added three pounds over the summer.

As for the five incoming freshmen, based on what their weight was listed as according to 247 Sports, they all made some massive improvements in the gym this summer. Kahlil Whitney (up from 190 to 210 lbs) and Keion Brooks (up from 185 to 205 lbs) both added an extra 20 pounds of what I can only assume is pure muscle based on the summer highlights/pictures I’ve seen. Dontaie Allen jumped up to 200 lbs after coming to campus listed at 185 despite the multitude of injuries he’s faced. Johnny Juzang (up from 200 lbs to 214) and Tyrese Maxey (up from 185 lbs to 198) also made significant strides in the weight room.

Lastly, grad-transfer Nate Sestina was the only Wildcat who actually lost weight, trimming down from 245 lbs to 234.

Looking at the overall measurements, I think we can confirm that this team is going to be BIG. Outside of the walk-ons, every player is listed at 6-foot-3 or taller. If we take away the three-guard combo of Hagans, Maxey, and Quickley, every player stands at least 6-foot-6.

Included next to every player is a personal bio, so I decided to take a peek at the incoming players to see if anything noteworthy was available. Did you know that Dontaie Allen chose No. 11 because it’s his favorite number (No. 1) twice? Or that Keion Brooks won a national championship in basketball as a fifth grader? These kids also loveeee them some NBA2K.

The roster is officially set and so am I. How much longer until basketball season?

Hagans and Maxey right at 200 pounds ought to be scary as hell for other teams. Can’t wait to see them all in action.

I can only assume that the J, stands for Jackass or Jerk, either way I’ll just call you Jacknut! Ok Jacknut, their season is most definitely not over as you say. Myself and almost everyone in the country new how much talent we lost last year. We lost our most important player, who just happens to be our quarterback, ( you know, the guys who has the ball in his hands and controls the damn game), in the second game of the season!!! Also, we lost our best secondary player before the season even started!! That would be devastating to almost any team in America!!

Listen, I know you and a few others have never even give this team a chance, and by the look of most of your all’s post, you want them to fail!! Well guess what Jacknut, even being 100% it would’ve been hard to win against the Number 8 team in America Florida, then Mississippi State at their place is always a hard game for any team!! Myself and a lot of others had expected to Lose to Georgia, Florida and Mississippi State at their home even before the season started. In my opinion, it’s playing out about like it should with all the players we have lost.

So now Jacknut, what does all this mean you might say?? It means we’re still on track to go 9-3 in the regular season with another chance to win Ten damn games again!! You know, like last year when we had one of the best seasons in our history!! At least the best in the last 35-40 years. So please, by all means, take your sorry ass and round up the dumb bastarddds that think like you and hit the door!! We don’t want or need you.

For the people here like me that are the true Blue Kentucky fans, i say, never count out the heart of these kids and our Staff!! We all knew we would struggle a little at first and may lose a couple! That doesn’t change anything. The Mississippi State game did kinda surprise me, but they fought as hard as they could the second half and if just a couple plays end differently, we have a great chance to win the game. Same with Florida.

Anyway, keep the faith and believe in this team and Mark Stoops!! Some may not like everything they do but they play to win football games and they’ve got some of the best players that’s ever wore this uniform on this team. Also the guys lined up to play next year is absolutely unbelievable!! And it’s getting better every day. Coach Stoops hasn’t been building team for years just to have one good season last year, he’s building it to have a great program year in and year out. Now that recruiting is taking off to a higher level, the play will too. If people can’t see the difference between our team now and 6 years ago, I don’t know what to tell you, but it’s changing, and it’s changing for the better. We’re soo close to breaking down some doors that we never thought possible, but it’s going to take support and faith.

      Thanks, and Go Cats!

You are the biggest moron on this website Jasun. Guarantee you’re from some mountain county in southern or eastern Kentucky, am I right?

That matters not 88, what he said holds weight and it’s true. Furthermore, just about everything my dude Jasun ever writes on here is agreeable with a huge percentage of us fans. Do I think we can go 9-3 line Jasun suggested? Probably not, but we still hold out hope and don’t turn into pessimistic blowhards over the outcome of a sports game played by teenaged boys for the most part.

Sorry but it would be insane of me to read your entire comment. Who are you, Carl Bernstein? First off, Miss. St. is a bad program with a bad coach who isn’t respected and they wiped the floor with UK. Secondly, 9 or 10 wins isn’t happening mainly for the reasons you’ve already mentioned, losing 2 key players. So I’m not sure of your logic of them winning that many games this year. Sad to say but Louisville could end up beating them by 20

Ohh yeah, the Basketball team. Lol. Hell yes we’re going to be tough this year. I don’t think we’ll see the early season let down that we have had a few years because of little experience. This team has all the pieces to be a Final Four team honestly. Cals not messin around and has took back the mojo. Hehe. I truly believe we’ll see a huge leaf forward for Nick this year. The kid has everything he needs already, he just needs to play a little smarter about the early fouls and play a tad meaner and he could be a force this year. Excited as I’ve been in a while about the Basketball team and this year and next is just going to be two contenders. We’re the luckiest fan base in the world people, no doubt about it. Go Cats
