Kentucky is NOT the Favorite to Win the 2020 National Championship

Entering the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline, the Kentucky basketball team was favorite to win the National Title in at least one sportsbook. That’s no longer the case.

The website BetOnline.Ag dropped UK’s odds of winning the title from 5-1 to 15-2. They now sit only behind Duke at 6-1.

  • Duke — 6/1
  • Kentucky — 15/2
  • Michigan State — 8/1
  • Virginia — 8/1
  • Michigan — 12/1
  • North Carolina — 14/1
  • Gonzaga — 16/1
  • Villanova — 16/1
  • Kansas — 22/1
  • Marquette — 22/1
  • Oregon — 22/1
  • Louisville — 25/1
  • Memphis — 25/1

Over at Bovada, UK is tied with Duke at +750 (the same as 15-2). They fall just behind Michigan State at +600.

  • Michigan State — +600
  • Kentucky — +750
  • Duke — +750
  • Virginia — +800
  • North Carolina — +1200
  • Memphis — +1400
  • Villanova — +1600
  • Kansas — +1600
  • Gonzaga — +1700
  • Louisville — +1800
  • Oregon — +2500

They say it’s good to be the king, but sometimes it’s better to be right behind the king to clean up the mess after a fatal mistake.

  1. Projections schmojections. Who cares? Some thought Duke 2019 was the greatest team ever and they shouldn’t have even made it out of the first weekend in March.

Okay, I guess I care a bit, because my first thought was “I wonder if this changes if we get Blackshear?” We shall see.

I don’t understand how dUKe is the FAVORITE to win the title this upcoming season… I mean how is Michigan State not the favorite they basically return their whole team which beat Duke last year with 2 of the top 3 picks in the draft… I mean Michigan State is the number 1 team in the way to early top 25… This is just more dUKe bias again in the media… This is crazy to me

This has nothing to do with media. Sports books offer odds to entice gamblers. If they’re wrong, they’ll get too many bets and have too much risk. Casual gamblers are easy to entice, thus Duke doesn’t need high odds to attract bets.

Duck Fuuuuuuuke! I hear their fans bet more in Vegas which is why they get favored odds! Screw them all! They’ll never change my support for my team! Wildcats for life bee-atches!

I believe that Las Vegas also factors in coaching records, which makes sense. Coach K has won national championships at a 12% pace. Cal wins a championship 4% of the time. That may be why projections are slightly skewed in favor of Duke.

A team MUST have 7 starter caliber players. 2 elite guards, 72 % ft, 37%+ fg, top notch defense. We need Blacksheer.

Biggest book in Nevada has is as the favorite at 6/1. MSU is 7.5/1 and puke is 8.5/1.
So basically they are all different. Just take your pick.
