Kentucky is No. 2 seed in the East in new Bracketology

Kentucky’s spot in the NCAA tournament field is more important this year than in most years, considering the Cats could potentially play in Louisville for a spot in the Final Four. So we’re keeping a closer eye on any and all tournament projections throughout the season, like the one over at

The website’s bracketology expert, Jerry Palm, updated his projected bracket late Sunday night and it has Kentucky playing in the East as the region’s No. 2 seed. Washington DC, not Louisville, is the host site for the East’s semifinal and final games.

In Palm’s scenario, Kentucky would open with Bucknell and then meet the winner of Purdue/TCU to advance to DC. Those first two games would be played in lovely Des Moines, Iowa.

Michigan is the East’s No. 1 seed in Palm’s projection, followed by (2) Kentucky, (3) Virginia Tech, (4) Buffalo and (5) Louisville. Give me that competition for the Final Four all damn day.

Duke, Tennessee and Virginia are the other No. 1 seeds.

1000% correct. Only thing worse than a mid January poll is a mid Dec/Nov/Oct poll

The way it’s shaping up, Kentucky goes with one or two losses in conference play and wins the tourney they could be a 1 seed?

I’d take this bracket just to see the Racers pound Louisville in the opening round.

I expect them to put Murray opposite UK, and I would hate that. But Murray’s in a conference that only gets the one team in; one bad game in the tournament and you’re out. Many years, Murray and Belmont have both deserved to get in.

I assume you would hate it for Murray, rg…

Well, yeah. How many times have they put Western Kentucky, Louisville, and Northern Kentucky opposite us; it is obviously an agenda.

Running, You’re right that the conference has only one automatic bid, but they could definitely get in if they’re year is good enough. They’re a tournament team this year so they’ll be in, win their tournament or not I think. I think Murray’s record this year is good enough, but they need to keep winning and not get complacent because they won’t get in if their not good enough. I think this year they are. I do know what you’re saying though and you’re absolutely right about a couple times they both should’ve been in and didn’t.

Agreed BBB, Murray State will be a tough out. Unless they stumble bad down the stretch, at the very least, an at-large bid should be on the table for the selection committee.

We got the easy bracket last yr and we crapped the bed!I don’t care what bracket we get whoever we play is gonna go nuts and have a career night. We need to have the mindset of bring on anybody and everybody! I like the way this team is coming along and love the freshman’s attitude. Just need pj to kick it in high gear and get ej some more minutes. I think ej needs to just find a few things he does well and hang his hat on it for this yr and he can build off that for next. Him and nick are going to be the 4 and 5 next yr and rotate bc we didn’t get isiah Stewart and may not get hurt or mcdaniels but if we get one we will be stacked. Who do we want hurt or mcdaniels? I don’t care as long as they can produce on both ends but leaning mcdaniels?

Should be 7th-9th in both rankings later today. No one talks about the other team in Kentucky’s 3 losses. Two nail-biters and one blow out, yes, but every single team (Duke, Seton Hall, Bama) had their best games of the season, respectively. Ball bounces our way against either Seton Hall or Bama, and this is a Top 5 team. CATS

Dont we always get shafted seed-wise based on the anti-Calipari slant of the comittees? Gives us locker roommotivation. Expect the worst seed and draw possible!

There is zero risk in predicting that UK won’y win the title. Having faith does not guarantee success. Embracing unbelief does guarantee failure. Do you think that these UK players should embrace unbelief? I do not! That is a sure fire way to not succeed. Are you a negative Nancy on your work team? Do you only point out why something can’t be accomplished rather than necessarily trying to identify what can be accomplished, in part, through wisdom, knowledge, risk mitigation etc? Does it give you a sense of power to comment just to see the reaction of certain Kentucky fans. Go watch the movie Polar Express and make a commitment to yourself that you will apply each of those punched out ticket words near the end of the movie…..

      “ B E L I E V E “
      “ L E A D “
      “ L E A R N “

If the players can “ DEPEND ON, COUNT ON, RELY ON “ each other, then the unbelief of a few “FANS” will not matter!
