Kentucky Cracks Top 10 of Way-too-Early KenPom Rankings

The numbers have been crunched, and the Cats are a Top Ten team.

Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball computer ranking algorithm has no offseason.  Since the NBA Draft deadline, Pomeroy has compiled a new calculation for  the 2018-19 season.  John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats are considered the No. 10 team in the country.

1. Kansas
2. Duke
3. Villanova
4. Nevada
5. Virginia
6. North Carolina
7. Syracuse
8. Gonzaga
9. Tennessee
10. Kentucky
11. West Virginia

It’s weird to see Tennessee ahead of Kentucky, but it’s only one spot.  You can’t blame the computer for getting it wrong.  However, you can blame the computer for forgetting that Virginia lost to a 16-seed.

Once Haggans reclassifies, and Reid commits, i’d be surprised if we weren’t top 3.

Not saying we deserve it but surprised we are not already in Top 5.

Without Reid, my sources say a 10 is generous…

My sources are asking me where Louisville was on that list.

Nick I love how you crack on UVA for losing to a 16 seed, lets see we lost games last year to teams that did not make the tourney. Also remember Robert Morris. That was an NIT game, not even a 16 seed but the lowest seed in the frickin NIT. Before we try to poke fun at others we should remember our own short comings. Kansas St was not a good team either and we struggled in game 1.

Except no team had ever lost to a 16 seed so it’s much worse a flaw than any team ever.

Why do you only point out negatives? I get criticizing fans for seeing everything through “blue colored glasses”, I really do. But you never, ever, ever have anything positive to say about our team. Do you just sit at home with a half chub all night waiting for any positive spin on UK sports so you can hop on here, shoot it down, and achieve climax? How do you live like that? Do you have friends, and family? What do they think about the miserable person you’ve become? You’re the kind of guy who could have his son throw a no hitter in the World Series, but then scold him for the one walk he gave up. That is why no one will ever love you, and likely why you’ll never love yourself. Lighten up and smile occasionally for goodness sakes. I would say relish in the fact that you’re a fan of the winningest basketball program ever, but you’re not a fan, are you? Plus, you’d just talk about the games we lost and say we should have more wins. Do us a favor and go start “whyihatekentuckysportsradio.com” and take some of these other miserable people with you so the rest of us can enjoy being fans.

He’s clearly just a troll. Always writes negative stuff but tries to hide behind words like we or our and including mashburn in the name.

And you are telling me that a 16 seed is better than all of the teams that didn’t make the tournament. The only reason UMBC made the tournament is because of the automatic bid.

How can a computer rank teams before a game’s been played?
