Kentucky climbs in both college basketball polls this week

Kentucky is gradually making its way back up the AP college basketball poll, where it was ranked as high as fifth earlier this season.

This week the Cats find themselves at No. 18 in the poll, up three places from the No. 21 ranking of a week ago. They were helped by the fall of Seton Hall, TCU, Miami and Clemson, all of which suffered losses that caused their drop in the poll.

Believe it or not, Auburn — yes, Auburn — is the SEC’s highest ranked team, sitting at No. 17 this week, one spot ahead of the Wildcats.

Oklahoma lost to Arkansas and West Va got blown out by A&M. It’s funny they don’t get penalized yet we fall when we lose a game in the SEC. The Big 12 is so overrated every year its become a joke. Everyone knows they will flame out in March. Meanwhile the SEC will continue to do well and we will be competing for yet another final 4.

Oh, and I forgot to mention A&M is in dead last in the SEC and WVU is in 1st in the Big 12. Imagine if UK got blown out by Iowa St. We wouldn’t be ranked at all. UK is 5-0 vs Big 12 teams in March under Calipari FYI. We own them.

Do you even know what you are talking about??? Oklahoma dropped from #2 all the way to #24 when they got beat by A&M. And Oklahoma wasn’t even ranked until the seventh week of the season. Oh, and WVU dropped again this week after losing. The second poll in this article (the USA Today) isn’t the updated one so those numbers aren’t correct. Take your stupid whining and unfounded belief that everyone is out to get us and take it somewhere else. Total ignorance. -Signed, a sane UK fan.

Agree with ofall. You could copy and paste that to about 25% of the posts here.

ofallthings what are you talking about? Either those claims are laughably incorrect or I am misunderstanding what sport or year you are referencing.

So I think his point was to show how nonsensical Eazy’s ramblings were. Oklahoma was unranked when they lost to Arkansas back on November 23, 2017. Since then, they’ve beaten several ranked teams, including Southern Cal (25), Wichita State (3), TCU (1), Texas Tech (8). Their only loss was @ West Virginia, who was ranked #6 at the time. That’s why they’re #4 now.

West Virginia dropped from #11 (preseason) to #24 after losing to Texas A & M (who was actually ranked #25 in the preseason AP poll and moved up to #16 after beating WVU).

      No #fakenews here.

Sorry, Antique. Meant WVU dropped to #24 when they got beat by A&M. Everything else I said was facts.

Gotcha. I think I misunderstood some of that as well. Though I do agree with part of what Eazy wrote. That being that the Big 12 is chronically and criminally overrated every year. How many times have we heard the SEC is Kentucky and everyone else? While true most years the same thing can be said as to the Big 12 and Kansas. No matter the 963 Big 12 teams that start the year with projections of elite status, it almost always winds up being Kansas and everyone else. At the same time, after all these years of Kentucky and everyone else has me highly suspicious of the many “experts” calling the SEC much improved. Maybe it is but the results aren’t in yet. I think Eazy is confusing last year’s aberration as indicative of the typical tourney performance of the SEC. It sure as poop on a Mizzou wall ain’t.

Only pole that matters is at the end of year. Regardless, we won’t be happy with the seeding or draw in the tournament. Followed by the complaints about officiating screwing us out of a title. These issues only become moot if we win the title. Then we will just complain about one and done and why there are not KY kids on the team.

I don’t care about either of these polls. IMO both are biased. I much prefer computer formulas:

    Pomeroy – #25

    Sagarin – #17

    Massey – #19

    RPI – #11
