Kentucky Basketball to Host Transylvania, IUP in Exhibition Games

Kentucky is one step closer to finalizing the 2018-19 men’s basketball non-conference schedule.

Today UK announced the team will host Transylvania on October 26 and IUP on November 2.  The date has also been set for the Blue-White Game.  The intrasquad scrimmage will take place at Rupp Arena on October 21.

The game against Transylvania will be dedicated to the life of C.M. Newton, who passed away in June at age 88.  A member of Kentucky’s 1951 National Championship and UK athletic director from 1989-2000, Newton began his legendary coaching career at Transy.

The all-time series between the Wildcats and the Pioneers is currently tied 7-7.  The two have played three exhibitions since Calipari became Kentucky’s head coach, the last in 2013.

IUP will come to Lexington from Indiana, Pennsylvania.  The D-II Crimson Hawks were 22-8 last year and narrowly missed an NCAA Tournament bid.
