Kentucky’s Keldon Johnson is the Freshman of the Week in the Southeastern Conference, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Johnson averaged 20 points and seven rebounds in wins over Winthrop and Tennessee State last week. In the Tennessee State game, the 6-6 wing scored a career-high 27 points, the most points by any UK player in a single game this season.
He currently leads the Wildcats with 16.5 points per game through six games.
It is Johnson’s first time winning the SEC’s Freshman of the Week award, but likely not his last.
