Kai Sotto is getting popular following his visit to Kentucky

Last week, the majority of basketball fans in America hadn’t heard the name Kai Sotto. But after the 7-foot-2 center from the Philippines took an unofficial visit to the University of Kentucky on Monday, Dec. 9, that all began to change. Of course, Sottos’ tweets from his visit – including some pictures of John Calipari on an elliptical – didn’t hurt his notoriety either.
Now, Sotto has also met with the Cats’ next opponent – Georgia Tech – as well as DePaul University in Chicago. National recruiting expert Evan Daniels broke the news, but Sotto later tweeted about both visits, confirming Daniels’ information. Based on the times the tweets were posted, it appears Sotto visited the Georgia Tech campus during the early-afternoon hours on Wednesday, followed by an in-home visit from the DePaul head coach later in the afternoon.

Sotto currently plays for The Skills Factory, which is a junior NBA-affiliated program. Pro players like James Harden, Kemba Walker and even UK’s own John Wall are alumni. It’s located in the heart of Atlanta, so the Georgia Tech campus is incredibly close to home for Sotto.
According to our friend Google Maps, it’s 9.6 miles (or about 18 minutes) from Georgia Tech’s campus to The Skills Factory, making Wednesday’s visit an easy one.

While these tweets are both very positive, keep in mind Sotto also posted plenty of updates during his visit with Kentucky. Plus, he had this to say after his time in Lexington:
The bar was set high. Family first and always! Thank you! @KentuckyMBB and @UKCoachCalipari

ESPN has Sotto listed as a four-star prospect, ranking him as the No. 76 overall player and the No. 11 center in the class of 2020. He is currently unranked in the 247Sports and Rivals rankings.
KSR’s Jack Pilgrim reached out to Sotto’s trainer, who told KSR Sotto is a “very skilled big man who can knock down the three at ease” and a “great kid with a great head on his shoulders.” For more from that scouting report, check out Pilgrim’s analysis here.
Outside of Kentucky, Georgia Tech and DePaul, Sotto also has interest from Auburn, USC and Nebraska, among others. However, it’s entirely possible that list will continue to grow and change for one simple reason: when Kentucky starts calling, so does everybody else.

Whether he wants to come here, or even gets an offer, he did a very savvy thing in visiting UK and making sure everyone online knew it.
Just spitballing here…..but why would a “Highly Skilled ” 7′ 1″ Big man who can “Knock down the 3 with Ease” only be ranked as the 74th player in the class in one ranking and Unranked in another?
Good question Heavy C. Maybe the 74 ranking is very generous.
ALIENS!!!
Does anyone else get the feeling that there might be a 5 star Philippines player Cal knows about down the road?
