Judge rules Zion Williamson must answer questions about eligibility at Duke

The Zion Williamson lawsuit is heating up. This morning, a Miami judge denied Williamson’s request for a protective order, ruling that the former Duke star must answer questions under oath about his eligibility.

Last week, Williamson’s legal team attempted to stop the discovery process, arguing that the inquiry was “invasive” and “irrelevant.” His former agent Gina Ford is suing him for breach of contract, claiming that he received impermissible benefits to play basketball at Duke. Specifically, she wants answers from Williamson, his mother, and his stepfather about the house they lived in while he was at Duke, along with other gifts, money, and potentially a car he received during his time as a Blue Devil.

Williamson is expected to appeal the decision, but if today’s ruling stands, Zion, his family members, and even Mike Krzyzewski may be deposed. Here are some of the questions they may be asked, via Darren Heitner:

Pass the popcorn.

Agreed. One way or another… The case will be settled or the testimony will be sealed.

I would have more confidence in the attorneys who wrote the questions if they hadn’t referred to “Nike tennis shoes” or failed to put question marks on the questions.

Prediction: Zion will appear, he’ll provide incriminating information, Coach K will successfully dodge, and sacrificial lambs will be fired. The Threes Shade of Blue (KU, UNC, Duke) will never be implicated in any of this stuff. Instead, the NCAA will come down hard on some non-contenders to make a good show of things in order to wag a “you better behave” finger at everybody else.

That’s exactly what is going to happen. I bet they punish UofL even harder, and blame them for everything. Watch UofL is about to get the Death Penalty.

Coach K will get his own shoe deal and Duke will get UofL’s 2013 championship and banner.

It would be great if they punished UofHell harder for Zion taking money ?. That would be great!

UofLOL has earned the death penalty, no matter what happens to those other schools.

This could of all been avoided if he had chosen to play at UK or South Carolina. Zion is Royally screwed!!! However somehow some way Coach K and Duke will get pretty much out of this situation mostly unscaved. They will probably get a basic “slap on the wrist” from NCAA. Pathetic!!!

Rich Dukies will finance the settlement of this suit before any further testimony is given.

The NCAA will, as usual, issue a apology for DARING to inconvienence Coach K.

And the NCAA will see Duke and Coach K and tell us to move along as there is nothing to see here.

Coach K could admit guilt and the NCAA would give him all of UCLA’s championships for his honesty.

I like how they act like it really matters if rules were broken. No way any of this causes anybody to lose sleep or hurts coach k or duke.

Where is the dookie troll that pops up all the time? He got awfully quiet after K couldn’t even get to the final 4 with what many called the greatest recruiting class in history, including the “greatest recruit ever”.

Like someone said above, this case will settle by the end of the month for an undisclosed amount and nothing will ever be heard from it again.

If they do not have solid proof the “under oath” part won’t mean anything as he’ll simply lie! But boy oh boy if they have documents/recordings this is about to get very interesting and quite fun with it being PUKE

But it is really worth going to jail for perjury to protect dook? I wouldn’t think so.

    • Jeffiers302
      3:18 pm June 2, 2020 Permalink

I’m like you, I can’t see Zion lying. The NCAA can’t do anything to him, and I just don’t see anything criminal coming his way either. I think law enforcement wants to nail the shoe companies, the advisors, and the coaches. I don’t think they are worried about catching the players. They are the star witnesses for the prosecution, especially ones like Zion who have already left college.

I don’t care if anything does happen to Duke behind this, just that it is known the rat face f#$&er is cheater, and not the good ESPN and most make him out to be. He copied what Cal was doing but instead of being criticised he is praised for his ability to adapt to rules. The fact he was scrambling to catch up and get these recruits and the knowing he cheated should will be good enough to shame them. The best coach in college basketball coaches at University of Kentucky and it’s not even close, all the people who say otherwise just because he doesn’t have the championships are morons.

“Hey, but between me and you, he asked about some stuff … I know what he’s asking for,” Code said, per Wetzel. “He’s asking for opportunities from an occupational perspective, he’s asking for cash in the pocket and he’s asking for housing for him and his family.” https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Article/Recording-featured-Kansas-assistant-Kurtis-Townsend-discussing-Zion-Williamson-123423077/

I’m in the minority among the BBN, but I think Duke gets stung in this investigation if they have done anything to warrant being stung. There’s no way the NCAA can give Duke a pass if anyone in the program is complicit.
