John Calipari is one win away from tying Joe B. Hall on UK’s all-time victory list

Kentucky head coach John Calipari is about to make history.

With a blowout victory over Tennessee this evening, Calipari is now just one win away from tying legendary UK head coach Joe B. Hall in the record book.

Sitting at 21-4 on the year, Calipari is now 296-68 over the course of his Kentucky career, meaning a victory over Missouri on Tuesday would tie him with Hall (UK career record of 297-100) for No. 2 on the all-time wins list.

Former Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp holds the school record with 876 career victories.

Overall, the Kentucky head coach now possesses a 741-208 on-court record all-time as a head coach, moving him to No. 40 (tied) in college basketball history in terms of total wins.

Oddly enough, the coach he has tied at 741 wins is former Temple head coach John Chaney, the individual who once threatened to kill Calipari at a press conference in 1994.

To take it a step further, Wednesday was actually the 25-year anniversary of the Chaney-Calipari fight. Funny how things work out.

In other Calipari coaching statistics:

  • Kentucky is now 57-28 against AP ranked competition under Calipari
  • Calipari is 5-4 in his career vs. the No. 1 team, 2-2 while at Kentucky.
  • UK is 48-12 in bounce-back games under Calipari, including 4-0 this season.

The Kentucky head coach has a major opportunity to tie the big record on Tuesday and then break it at home against Auburn next Saturday.

Same thing everyday. We know it’s true but Get a life! Who’s just winning chips all the time? Nova UConn duke nc fl ky have all had there way at some point over 30 year span (us alot over a long time)and it’s no more than 2 in 10 years! We’re just fine and in the hunt like always. I can’t say that about all those teams. And UCLA Kansas is nothing. Only team having more success is duke and they’ve been doing it only since 1991 and had a heck of a stretch! But like all those teams they’ve made there names against ky! Duke especially imo .Could have had 3 in a row but Arizona got us with an injured da and they became a household name and hasn’t done crap but that guy miles Simon who won in 97 is always on tv. Which does suck but it is what it is! UConn, the undefeated season should have been a duke showdown and I don’t blame refs but yeah roofers I mean refs. This is history and you have to embrace all that it is being a wildcat of find another team!

cootch, he IS combatmedic, Slater and from last year BigBlueNationDude and probably some others. He is also the second half starting guard for the rec league, something he’s quite proud of. So he obviously has no life.

Arizona didn’t get us, the refs did. AZ didn’t score a field goal the last 2 minutes of regulation or in OT. All their points came off free throws.

Slater would complain if Cal had won 5 titles in 10 years. Or even 9 out of 10. If he were a NE Patriots fan he would complain about the Super Bowls lost. He’s a troll. A stooge. A douchebag. A loser.

I can recall when I was younger thinking that an Olympian failed if they did not at least get a bronze medal. With each passing Olympic games I now realize how far from the truth that is. One national championship title is no worse than one Olympic gold-medal. Stating that a gold medal Olympian still in his or her prime will never win another gold medal may or may not ultimately prove true but is really an irrelevant statement and shows nothing more than a personal dislike of such Olympian.
