John Calipari is hopeful Quade Green returns against Florida

For the first time ever, the John Calipari Call-In Show was held at the Champions Kitchen on UK’s campus, the brand new dining facility located in the new Student Center.

Students were allowed to come and watch, where Coach Cal talked about the South Carolina loss, Jarred Vanderbilt’s impact on the floor, and Quade Green’s status.

He started by telling fans in attendance he was “sick” about his team’s performance last night, and how there’s a grieving process with losses like the one Kentucky experienced on the road.

After getting one player back from injury last night, Calipari updated the status on injured point guard Quade Green.

After missing three consecutive games with a back injury, Coach Cal said he expects Green to return for Kentucky’s College GameDay matchup on Saturday against Florida.

In fact, he says he’s hopeful to have a “healthy team” going forward.

Is Tai Wynyard also returning? Could Jemarl Baker be ahead of schedule? Will Jarred Vanderbilt’s minutes climb even further? Who knows, but it’s great to see Calipari so optimistic about his team’s health.

Speaking of Vanderbilt, Calipari said the injured forward was extremely lost at times and the team still had yet to scrimmage with him in practice. His impact on the floor in limited action, however, was substantial.

Needless to say, I think this kid is going to be special.

Go Cats.

lets be honest, i don’t think anybody knows what kind of offense we’re running. When you have 3 very selfish players that shoot the ball as soon as they touch it with 25 seconds left on the shot clock night in and night out.. we’re not going to win many games.. it’s like watching an nba offense.. me me me me me.. with an occasional pass… Kevin Knox is overhyped and by far the worst passer in UK history.. he doesnt play hard at all, and dont get me started on Hami.. this team reminds me of the Archie Goodwin team. aka NIT bound if they dont pull their head out of their asses and start playing team ball and executing the most simplest of plays

Not going to win many games at all, we’ve lost four games… the world is ending.

Since you think we shoot the ball with 25 seconds on the shot how many possessions do we do that a game very few go cheer for your cards troll

And by the way the only reason the 2013 team went to the NIT was because Noel tore his ACL against Florida end of discussion

we were actually not having a good season before the Noel injury and would have been a bubble team with him. Still the loss to Bobby Morris happened, NO EXCUSES. Should beat them with all 2nd string.

We were the defending national champs. If Noel is healthy, and we win a few down the stretch (we were playing better ball as Noel got more comfortable), no way we are left out of the tourney if we are even close to being on the bubble. After a close loss to Louisville, we had won 9 of 11, including at #16 Ole Miss. When Nerlens got hurt at Florida, it ripped the heart and soul out of that team. You could see it in their eyes when he was laying screaming on the court. They might not have gone far in the tournament, but I think they may have had some momentum going in, so who knows.

people forget UK was ranked #25, and had won 9 of 11, when Noel went down. We were not that good, but we were not a bubble team.

Actually we were starting to play better when Noel went down I’m not making excuses for losing in the NIT but with him we would have been on the right side of the bubble

I’m not a Loserville fan for the record, that always seems to be the reply when something is said fellow fans can’t accept.. but this team has shown flashes of a great team when they smoked the cards but couldn’t beat a mediocre ucla team and blowing a 9 and 14 point lead in conference play. If they even get into the tourney we won’t go past the sweet 16 IF they continue this atrocious play.. that’s been the only thing consistent with this group this year.. they’re not a good team

At this point, they are still a collection of AAU players. They have flashes where they play well (like most of the first half in the UT and USC games), but when adversity (foul trouble, injuries) hits, they slide back to hero ball. Freshmen! If you didn’t see this coming, you are blind. But they still have close to half a season to figure it out, and they have added a very important player. We all remember how bad our defense looked last year until they figured it out. If Mayes doesn’t hit that shot, we have a decent shot of another FF.

Yeah we’ll just wait and see.. and even if they do figure it out… John Higgins and the ncaa will keep us from #9 like they always do

Well, at least we can’t blame that one on Cal (unless you want to say that he doesn’t whine at the ref’s for favorable calls like K does.)

I think when Jared starts playing more, Quade comes back, and we’re the whole team is healthy, we will be competitors

Just watching how Jared’s unselfishness in the game against USC showed us what this team could look like when he starts to figure out the plays and gets more involved.

There also really isn’t a stand out team. Anyone could lose at this point. Duke even lost to NC state
