John Calipari doesn’t believe Jarred Vanderbilt will play vs. Alabama

Kentucky looked great against Georgia without Jarred Vanderbilt in the lineup.  Hopefully we can say the same when the Cats take on Alabama tomorrow.

John Calipari joined the ESPN set following the quarterfinal win and provided an update on Vanderbilt’s status.

“I don’t think Jarred will play tomorrow,” Calipari said.  “That ankle, he’s walking around on it.  He’s telling me, ‘I’m gonna get ready.’  Come on man.  You can’t. You gotta be 100 at this time of the year or you cannot be playing.”

Coach Cal was pleased with how his team responded in Vanderbilt’s absence. P.J. Washington had seven rebounds, Wenyen Gabriel got six and Kevin Knox grabbed nine.  “When he rebounds, we’re pretty good.”

We’ll see if Kentucky’s frontcourt can replicate that kind of performance tomorrow at 1:00 ET.

    I’d take J.V. at 50% over Richards at….all.

Maybe cal is playing some head games with Alabama. Watch cal might put Vanderbilt in the starting lineup right before the game.

“Kentucky looked great against Georgia without Jarred Vanderbilt in the lineup….” LMAO! “Great” is a bit of an overstatement, don’t you think? They were good enough to beat a worn out team that was gassed in the first 10 minutes! A win is a win and I’m glad, but come on…………… let’s not fool ourselves. We need his rebounding and hustle if we’re going to make a run.

Bama will be playing their 3rd game in 3 days tomorrow. I was griping during the live blog that we needed to run and gun and tire Georgia. But Cal thought grinding it out would tire them out more…guess he was right…LOL I’m glad I’m not the coach.

I’m sure glad Jeff Sheppard played in 1998 when he wasn’t 100 percent still the only Kentucky team to complete the trifecta SEC regular season champs.SEC tournament champs and NCAA champs

Interesting stat. I thought the 1978 team completed the trifecta, but I forgot that there was not an SEC tournament in 1978.
