While combing through UK’s game notes, I came across this fun fact: a win over Ole Miss tomorrow would give John Calipari his 26th consecutive on-court 20-win season. That’s the best streak of any active coach in college basketball, ahead of Mike Krzyzewski (24), Bill Self (22), and Mark Few (21).
To take it a step further, if Kentucky has a strong postseason, they could reach 30 wins for the 6th time in the Calipari Era (2009-10, 2011-12, 2014-15, 2016-17, 2018-19). It would be the 12th 30-win season in Calipari’s career, which would tie him with Roy Williams for second among active coaches. Coach K is first with 15. Calipari is the first coach in NCAA Division I history to record five straight on-court 30-win seasons, notching 30 wins in consecutive seasons from 2005-06 to 2009-10.
It’s been a pretty good decade, folks.
