Kentucky's Joel Justus has been recognized as one of the nation's top young college basketball coaches.
ESPN's college basketball staff collaborated to create a list of the sport's top 40 coaches under 40. An industry that rewards experience, the list of successful young head coaches is not lengthy. Once you scroll past UNC-Greensboro's Wes Miller, Xavier's Travis Steele and LSU's Will Wade, only a few more make the cut before you'll find assistants that are a step away from leading programs of their own.
At No. 25 is familiar face that's roamed UK's sideline for the last six seasons, Joel Justus. Myron Medcalf explains why Justus is one of bright young minds in the college game.
When he first joined Kentucky's staff for the 2014-15 season, he was an analytics coach who put together detailed profiles of each player on the roster. Now, he's one of the nation's top assistant coaches and a rumored candidate for multiple jobs that could open in the coming year or two.
The list includes a few other familiar names in the assistant coaching ranks: Duke's Jon Scheyer (#9), Louisville's Luke Murray (#10) and Syracuse's Gerry McNamara (#23). You'll also find another name you may not have known was in the coaching ranks. Ali Farokhmanesh, the Northern Iowa shooter that upset No. 1 Kansas in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, comes in at No. 32 as an assistant at Colorado State.
