Joel Justus is your new special assistant

UK announced today that Joel Justus has been promoted to “special assistant to the head coach,” a role previously held by Tony Barbee. Justus was the director of analytics last season, his first at Kentucky.

Coach Cal had this to say in the release: “Joel came in and did an outstanding job with our analytics last season. He showed a tremendous desire to get more involved and to help where needed. He became a valuable member of our staff and we are excited to give him even more responsibilities. He’s young, energetic and a great worker. He will do well in a position that’s been a great opportunity for a lot of our guys.”

Before joining the staff last year, Justus was coaching high school basketball in North Carolina. That’s one hell of a climb up the ranks in a short time. Congrats to him on the new job and new responsibilities.

Joel was our group leader at last weekend’s Father/Son Camp. He did an amazing job and brought tons of energy and enthusiasm to our group. Congratulations to him!
