Jodie Meeks Continues NBA Hot Streak

Jodie

The Lakers are, well, not very good.  Even the league’s elite has to suffer a couple down years, and at 16-29, and with a perpetually injured Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles has to look at the Clippers as their premiere team, a sentence which would have surprised many as little as three years ago.

But in spite of their dismal season, there is a bright spot in shooting guard, and Kentucky favorite, Jodie Meeks, who has been sensational in the midst of the hardship.

Tonight, Meeks picked up 24 points on 8-13 shooting (6-8 3-pt.).  He also pulled down 3 rebounds to go along with a couple of steals and an assist.

Although the Lakers have lost four of their last five, Jodie has averaged 18 points, and a sizzling 57% three-point clip, in the span.  He’s also hitting 88% of his free throws.  So even though he’s not necessarily Kobe (at least not yet…), he’s putting up some good numbers for his professional teammates.  If he loses some time when the Mamba comes back, maybe some other teams will see his value as a scorer and make a move.  It worked for Eric Bledsoe, might as well work for Jodie.

I still maintain that with Meeks, UK wins the 2010 title.  Regardless, we’re glad to see him doing well.  Plus, we’re always looking for a reason to post this:

“So even though he’s not necessarily Kobe (at least not yet…)”

There’s still time to edit out that parenthetical.

Hahahahahahahahahahahshah………..Hahahahhahahahaha …. Yea I’d say here in a couple years Jodie will be the new Kobe. Seriously how’d you get to write for this site? I mean that’s an embarrassing comment to make I hope you weren’t serious about that but I’m not sure….

How did we not do better with both Patterson and Meeks on the same team? Yes, I know.

Yeah because the writer obviously expects Jodie to be the next Kobe. Maybe, maybe some things are written tongue in cheek and maybe, maybe from a UK fan’s perspective. Of course with Big Blue fans referring to him as nothing more than a “filler” the other day I’m more interested in why so many seem to have such a sour attitude about an alum who has obviously established himself as a legit player in the League. Bizarre.

You don’t really have to have a reason to post that video. The performance should be remembered as often as possible.

You’re not going out on a limb much saying we’d have won a title with Meeks. That team’s one weakness was a lack of shooting leading to problems in half court offense. A senior Jodie paired with Wall, with Bledsoe then backing up both guard spots, would have been deadly. And if he could shoot like he did with two guys on him all game, imagine what he could do with Cousins and Patterson hitting him wide open after they got doubled in the post.

One of my all time favorite Cats. Just a damn shame he had to spend 2 years with Cluelesspee as his coach.
