As you read this, I am nibbling on sponge cake on a bus to Cincinnati for one of my favorite days of the year: Jimmy Buffett at Riverbend. The Bluegrass Parrothead Club was kind enough to let my group of idiots ride up and back (assuming there is a back) to waste away in Margaritaville, Ohio; one of Jimmy’s favorite tour stops. It is sure to be a long day of tailgating, sunbathing and misbehaving, or what I like to call my annual reminder that being single isn’t so bad.
But for those of you not searching for lost shakers of salt today, there is plenty going on in the real world. So join me in previewing the day ahead in this new morning thing we’ve got going on…
Kash Daniel will be a guest on KSR in Paintsville.
The KSR tour will hit its second stop today with a special visitor planned to be in attendance. Matt and Ryan will be live at Brown’s Auto Group in Paintsville and UK super-recruit Kash Daniel will make a special guest appearance in the building and on the show. Stop by to meet the crew or tune in from wherever you are to hear Kash talk about his recruitment. They’re going live in about two hours.
Jamal Murray may or may not commit today.
It was originally reported that Murray would announce his commitment, likely to Oregon, on Canada’s TSN this evening. However, Adam Zagoria spoke to someone close to Murray who said the report is false and Tuesday will not be the day Murray’s recruitment ends.
After the initial report was denied last night, this KSR comment summed up what many of us were thinking:
Murray is done with school so an announcement should come soon, if he actually exists.
Karl-Anthony Towns tours New York.
Towns is already in New York City for Thursday night’s draft so you can expect to see plenty from his pre-draft media tour in the coming days. Yesterday he toured the Empire State Building with his family:

He will soon be joined by Willie Cauley-Stein, Devin Booker and Trey Lyles in the big city as the four former Wildcats prepare for the biggest night of their lives.
ESPN’s Chad Ford and Jay Bilas held a live mock draft on Twitter last night and Bilas passed on Towns with the first pick, taking Okafor instead. Here’s where the Cats came off the mock board:
2. Karl-Anthony Towns, Lakers (Ford)
6. Willie Cauley-Stein, Kings (Ford)
9. Devin Booker, Hornets (Bilas)
15. Trey Lyles, Hawks (Bilas)
Vanderbilt can win the College World Series tonight.
The ‘Dores took Game 1 last night and can clinch the three-game series tonight. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8:00 pm ET.
Hopefully Vandy wears a different uniform tonight:
If the series goes three games, Henry Clay High School’s own Walker Buehler will likely get the start in Game 3.
The SEC Network will re-air three UK basketball games today.
Up first at noon: Kentucky vs. Auburn in the SEC Tournament semifinal in Nashville. I won’t spoil the outcome in case you’ve forgotten, but I’ll remind you Tyler Ulis flexed up on an Auburn big man.
Then tonight, Grand Canyon at UK (8:00 pm) followed by UK at Tennessee (9:30 pm).
In the meantime, here’s a picture of Nerlens Noel wearing a Steve Urkel t-shirt in an airport:
