Jeff Goodman Throws Shade at WKU’s Rick Stansbury

In the middle of providing updates on Hamidou Diallo (he’s meeting with his inner circle this afternoon), ESPN’s Jeff Goodman threw out a controversial Tweet.

That statement would not normally ruffle any feathers because Stansbury has been absolutely crushing it on the recruiting trail since he arrived in Bowling Green.  He has the eighth-ranked class with McDonald’s All-American Mitchell Robinson, a trio of four stars and the potential to land five-star point guard Tremont Waters.

What makes his statement stand out is the “$” in Stansbury.

Does Goodman think Stansbury is paying for his recruits, or is that just something other coaches are talking about?

Kinda BS. Throwing an inflammatory “text” out there without naming the source, but making it clear that it’s a competitor.

Stansbury has always been ‘by the book’, honest, and squeaky clean. Its highly unlikely that any coaches are insinuating anything here other than the fact that Rick is landing some outstanding talent at WKU. Stansbury’s record was below .500 last season and it appears that help in the form of ‘better talent’ is on the way.

The quotation marks would indicate that someone else said that – not Goodman. Also, Evan Daniels reported two hours ago that WKU isn’t recruiting Waters.

Probably angry old man Roy Williams who realized how pathetic it is that Stansbury is recruiting 5-star talent to WKU that he can’t bring to UNC 😂

If Jeff Goodman didn’t always talk like he just came back from the dentist office then people might take him seriously.

Let’s just call him Jeff Numbjaw (and NumbLobe).

ESPN fired a bunch of people several months ago. How was Jeff NumbNog not on the list?

Also how did these people make the cut:

    Michael Wilbon
    Jemele Hill
    Michael Smith

We should call them the Affirmative Action network. People like Bomany Jones, Jalen Rose, & Herman Edwards should be pissed at the dead weight they keep having to act like deserves to be there.

Notice the common theme among those you just mentioned? Except Goodman of course. I’m not a conspiracy theorist or racist by any means but I have no doubt if those you just listed were fired, Stephen A. Smith (who should also have been on the list BTW) would spend 30 minutes on First Take talking about how they got the short end of the stick because of their race. He used to be one of my favorites until I realized how quick he is to make absolutely anything about race.

I always attributed Stansbury’s recruiting success to shrewd decision-making – he was (is?) at a school with low academic rigor and poor oversight of its athletic programs, so he can go after recruits other schools are afraid to touch. At Miss St., he often went after undiscovered or under-rated/little-known prospects in the deep south. He also went after a lot of late bloomers that hadn’t racked up the offers early on in their recruitment. I never got the sense that there was any shady quid pro quo going on.

Is he just saying Stansbury is “money” when it comes to recruiting? Without knowing context, that’s how I’d read it.

Yea Rick $tansbury is a turd. Definitely paying high dollar for recruits to go to a 💩 School like Western.

How ironic the founder of KSR has a reporting on a story about Goodman who he can’t stand & says he does stories for the “clicks” & stir the pot but yet is promoting the “clickmaster” himself…. hey pot met kettle yet?
