Once they got back to the hotel, UK sent out some quotes from James Young and Dakari Johnson about tonight’s loss.  Here they are in all their glory:

JAMES YOUNG

On Jordan Mickey…

“Jordan Mickey is a good guy. It was really hard for us to score (on him). He kept blocking our shots. That is how SEC basketball goes.”

On how LSU capitalized…

“We made a bunch of mistakes and LSU really got on top. We tried to go out there and do what we needed to do. We had way too many penalties. We just have to get better.”

DAKARI JOHNSON

On the game …

“(LSU) was just playing harder than us. They were hitting a lot of shots, a lot of open three’s. They just broke down a lot defensively and they just played harder than us tonight.”

On trailing LSU …

“(I tried to) just to take shots and fight and get us back in this game. We got down early. I was just trying to help my team get back in the game.”

On competing defensively …

“I just tried to be physical, get on the offensive boards and try to get physical with Johnny O’Bryant (III), but he’s a good player. He was taking a lot of good shots. I felt like I needed to do better defensively. That’s on me. I could have moved my feet better. But he had a good game. He’s a really good player.”

Can we leave the Harrison twins in Louisiana? Time to start the Ky boys Polson Hood and Willis, tired of twins, Randel and Willie

“Kenny Payne filled in for John Calipari on the postgame show tonight”. Big surprise,..ala Pitino!!! Oh well. Cal should take some of the blame,..and he’s not good at that. 5 losses already with a team full of FIVE STAR players? What,…17 losses in a year and a half with a team full of FIVE STAR players????? And Anthony Davis is NOT walking through the door anytime soon to make up for his poor coaching. Then he sends out Payne to answer questions. Oh well. Wish we could have Cal as a recruiter,..and someone else to coach them.

This was a bad loss! With a win UK would have made the Top Ten. This loss hurts their NCAA seeding and national TV (and recruits) saw the spoiled kids scowl and argue on the sideline and even Cal on the floor shoving a Harrison into the correct position! Last comment of the game when UK let them run the clock out w/o fouling pretty much summed it up. “WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! ???”

No heart at all tonight! Talk about ONE AND DONE! Keep this up and it will be NIT ONE AND DONE!………..AGAIN!

Cal, if your All American’s don’t want to play…. then don’t play them! Let someone who earns his scholarship represent our great program! GO #BBN !

Hey Dakari, please teach Julius Randle how to set a pic. Randle is piss poor at setting screens because he is not worried about getting his teammates open, he is only concerned about getting a shot for himself. It is obviuos that Randle is a very selfish player and is only out to get his. By doing that, he is hurting himself and more importantly his team. Please Dakari, teach Julius how to be a humble team player that will set a solid screen for his teammates. The lack of intensity he shows without the ball and on the defensive end makes me sick. I would trade Randle for O’Bryant anyday. Julius’ name should be changed to Julius Nohandle. He is Mr. turnover. frustration nation…

Dakari Johnson should have been getting minutes in the other FOUR losses!!!!! No comparison between him and Willie. Dakari can score,..and we need scorers. That is ALL ON CAL!!!!!!!!!!!! We also need Lee and Willis!!!! Give a good coach the six through ten players on this team,….and they beat the first five (with Cal coaching them). Or give a good coach the first five,..and they beat the 6 through 10 (with Cal coaching them). 100% coaching,..or lack of, in Cal’s case. Cal is a horrible coach!!! But he sure can recruit!!!!!!! We need more Dakari, more Lee and more Willis,…and less Hawkins, Poythress and Willie!!!!!

No more I think we’ve turned the corner or the players have identified their roles and are playing more as a team. I don’t want to see articles about enjoying the grind because as far as I can see the only thing getting ground was our face in the floor.
Real nice to see we have the current biggest UK hater covering the game and we come out and lay an egg. This just gives him something to gloat about and makes BBN look bad.
This isn’t the 2011 team so don’t say we’ll one of Cal previous teams struggled on the road. That team had the mentality and fortitude to use losses to get better when it counted. As for this team, I’m not quite sure, but I definitely don’t wanna hear about it. Just show us with your play.

Thank you Dakari for your honesty and for taking responsibility. Keep setting the example for your teammates to follow.

Totally agree. Dakari not only played the best last night (i.e. showed the most heart), but it speaks VOLUMES when he tells the media he needs to do better. Well said Dakari.

Dakari played well offensivly but if he had played more minutes he would have just fouled out sooner. He could not guard O’Bryant. Cal got the most production out of Dakari as he could.

Start Johnson. All we heard last year is we don’t have a bench to motivate. Now you do but don’t use the bench as a motivator. If WCS has not performed good the last 4-5 games bench him. Cal is a great recruiter but lacks a lot when it comes to coaching and motivating all this talent. Talent without heart and motivation is useless. His comment that iteans so much for the other te up beat UK…. That means LSU has heart and motivation. Why the hell has Cal not developed that same heart and motivation in all these Allstate hamburger players we have? That is coaching.

poythress and Johnson need to start. I mean why not see if you can find a lineup that doesn’t get smoked in the first five minutes. (forget the geogia game they had two key players out)

Time to get back to Kentucky Ball with Kids who want to win, not just make a name for themselves to increase their draft spot. Polson and Willis want and deserve playing time. Leave the twins on the bench till they figure out how to play the sport of basketball, as they clearly don’t know any thing about it other than dribble.

Kentucky and New York kids should start, they grew up hard as the rest have a silver spoon in their behinds. Mr. Johnson, Polson, Willis, Poythress, Hood should start and then you’ll see kids compete. They may lose, but you’ll be proud.

some of these comments are the dumbest opinions I’ve ever seen. For one everyone is forgetting that this is the youngest starting 5 in NCAA history. This is a young team of course they are going to struggle on the road, give them until the end if the season they will find there identity. You can’t start hood and polson don’t get me wrong I’m a huge polson fan but he can’t pack there gym bag. The only thing I’m curious about is how come Marcus Lee doesn’t play? I have faith in Cal you guys are forgetting about the Gilispie days. ##IBleedBlue

Polson can’t pack their gym bag? What games have you been watching? Why do you think he has been playing so much lately? Because he can’t pack their gym bag? That’s what is wrong with these freshmen–They’ve had their gym bags packed for them all their lives. They’ve been built up and had everything done for them. Play the kids who want play for Kentucky. Polson, Hawkins, Willis, Poythress, and Johnson should be the starting lineup for next game.
