That’s one of the more deeper rosters I’ve seen UK have in the Calipari era.

Cal wasn’t kidding about using the bench as motivation. I know we have some walk-ons, but 16 players on the roster? Kids are going to have to earn their minutes. I like it.

Deep and stacked w/ talent! This year is going to be incredible. Better enjoy every minute because next year may be another down year unless CAL can work his magic.

Anyone else worried that there are several signed floorboards on this site. I know only a problem if they got paid but why even sign something like that with all the suspicion that is going on.

WCS, a forward? Do you think we could see some twin towers, DK and WCS, with Randle at the three. It could happen to work better than Noel and WCS because DK is a little more skilled and can score. That would be the most physcially imposing team in college basketball. Especially with two 6’5″ guards.

9 Freshman with 3 going pro that I see right now. 2 Harrisons and Randle

My bet is Poythress and WCS go pro this year also.

Leaving 5 roster spots open for 2014 recruiting since Hood and Polson are not on Athletic scholarships now.

I like the longevity of this roster. The next 2 years are going to be fun.

I think both Polson and Hood are on scholly. There would be 12 of the 13 taken this year.

    1. Polson
    2. Hood
    3. Lee
    4. Harrison
    5. Harrison
    6. Randle
    7. WCS
    8. Johnson
    9. Hawkins
    10. Poythress
    11. Young
    12. Willis

Let’s assume Exum does not come to UK in December. That leaves 3 scholarships open plus any early entries. Harrisons and Randle are gone for sure. That’s 6 open. WCS most likely gone. That’s 7. Poythress could go either way depending on his year. He will not be the focus at all this year, so he could really open some eyes. I don’t think Johnson or Young will get enough buzz coming off the bench. They would probably be first rounders after this year, but could easily be lottery picks in two years. The incoming freshman next year will be down all over the sport.

So, I think they have 7 to 8 spots open for next year. I see Cal learning the Stokes lesson and keeping one scholarship open when he can. He’s not playing more than 8-9 guys, so why use that 13th unless it’s for a 4 year guy like Hawkins or Willis?

  29. DUH
    11:10 am August 28, 2013 Permalink

UH, who gives a flying turn about next year. We haven’t even played a game this year.
I hope we have to fill 10 spots cause 10 players graduate or go pro after getting #9 this year.
And if we have a flotter next year so be it……

Cal’ is a great coach an lets let him worry about it…tht’s part of his job.

…no sandwich… how about some finger foods or a hot pocket????

Although I love to see those amazingly talented freshmen from all over the country, it still makes me happy to see a great showing from local talent. Those kids are living the dream of every high school basketball player in the state of Kentucky.

Also nice to see another Madison Central Indian on the roster.

DH, it would be a nice change for them to appear on the PC version of the site in addition to the mobile version. It’s confusing to see references to a post number, and then have to count down the posts to see it. On second thought, it was also confusing on the old site when troll’s responses would get deleted and the numbers would change. Maybe if a thread is deleted that number should just be skipped.

EJ Floreal would have been the KY High School 100m and 200m sprint champ had he gone to school here. Consistently much faster than James Quick or Ryan Timmons. Wonder if he can also catch a football?

James Young is too good for Cal not to have on the floor and he will be drafted no later than fifteenth. He won’t be around next season unless Cal pulls a Pitino and holds him down and we all know Cal don’t roll like that.
Quit sleeping on James Young. He’s the best wing Cal has recruited at UK. Draft Analyst and some fans are gonna owe Young an apology for underestimating his ability and contribution to our success!

Jeffrey, it may be a browser issue, then. I was able to see the numbers on the mobile version, but I use an iPhone, which means I use Safari as my browser. MoreInfo also said the nimbers show up on MacBook, which also uses Safari. I use IE on my work PC and cannot see the numbers. Haven’t tried on Chrome or Firefox. What browser are you using?

What a team.. I Know Randle is going to be great and prob the best player for us, but I also think James Young is going to be great as well. it seems to me like coach Cal doesn’t like to use but 7-8 players.. got to find a way to use Johnson, lee, young, Hawkins, which shouldn’t be hard if he would put Poythress lazy butt on the bench and just send WCS over to Stoops to help him out..
