Indiana Fires Tom Crean

Tom Crean’s tenure at Indiana is over.  College basketball’s dumbest face beat Kentucky that one time and got to a Sweet 16, but after another disappointing season ended in disaster in the NIT, the Hoosiers finally had enough with Crean’s antics.

Don’t worry Tom.  At least you have your son to console you.

Time to fire up the “Brad Stevens to Indiana” machine.

I don’t think he’d leave the Celtics, at least not yet, but if Stevens did end up at IU, I think he’d have them back in the national spotlight pretty quickly. They’d be lucky to have him.

The ones I know are more focused on Steve Alford than Stephens. They’re already discussing if the Ball brothers will come too lol

Cal should begin negotiations with IU again for a neutral site series.

With Crean out, does that mean the UK / IU regular season game is back on?

Terrible news: Creepy Crean and IU are meant for each other.

I hear Johnny Jones and Kim Anderson are both available for immediate hire! 😀

Wow, end of a hilarious and somewhat creepy era at IU. It just won’t be the same.

I hate this. It was fun to watch them cut down nets at silly times, look at his stupid facial expressions, laugh at his mouth kisses, and watch Indiana flounder. They were not relevant for years and after a few wins, their fan base reminded me of why they are the worst. I prefer that they continue to suck.

And you left out buying souvenirs of games he coached in at retail stadium shops

I too will buy every Kentucky student and faculty member a steak at Malone’s if Brad Stevens goes to IU, that’s how confident I am that it will not happen

Right. IU is not getting a big name coach. Either some old re-tread, or a no-name up-and-comer. There’s a better chance they hire Olu, Ray, or Connie Stevens than Brad Stevens.

    Crean’s records for 9 years at IU was 166 – 135.

For comparison’s sake, Cal’s record in his 8th year at UK is currently 243 – 52. How did they keep him that long???

Being fair, some of those years were sanctioned because of Kelvin Sampson

In fairness, his first 3 years were god-awful, due to Kelvin Sampson. Unfortunately, he didn’t fare a lot better after he got his players in

He had 2 top 5 draft picks and still lost in the sweet 16.

We had two first rounders and lost to IU in the round of 32.

I say bring back Bobby. Anybody know if he’s mellowed with age? Eh, didn’t think so.

By the way, had IU waited until July 1, they would have saved 3,000,000.00 US dollars

IU has not been an elite basketball program for a long time, back in the azzhole knight days.

I hate IU as much as anyone could, but I wish this wouldn’t have happened. It would have been nice to see them continually lose.
Oh, and you could fire me for 3 Mil anytime.

All good things must come to an end. Too bad he couldn’t have stayed there another 15 years

No question he will coach somewhere next season. The Crazy Crean Comedy Show will just be at a different location. And with the history of IU coaching hires, another Bozo will soon follow although not as looney as Crean.

I could see Alford coming home. Biggest “name” that would give it a second of consideration.
