Independent firm to examine Yum! Center financing

Despite all the money Kentucky fans spent on nachos and popcorn and fried chicken and parking during the NCAA tournament’s Louisville subregional last month, the Yum! Center is still broke. Sorry, Louisville fans, we did our best.

Today, InsiderLouisville.com reported that state legislators voted unanimously for the hiring of an outside firm to examine the Yum!’s finances. The motion comes after Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway’s office issued an informal opinion saying the Arena Authority does not owe the Kentucky State Fair Board jack squat in reimbursements for business lost at the fairgrounds.

Joe Sonka, Matt’s co-star on MSNBC’s The Last Word back in October, has all the details. Check out the story if you’re interested in the Yum!’s bankruptcy and all that.

Same story, different quarter. It is like UNC academic scandal: Nothing will come of it. Speaking of which, with the Atlanta Public Schools teachers being convicted under the RICO Act, can that be applied to culpable UNC teachers and administrators? Based on the following, it sounds plausible: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/part-I/chapter-96
