Immanuel Quickley on his family and faith

Immanuel Quickley is up this week in’s “Meet the Wildcat” series. The freshman guard is the latest in a long line of basketball players in his family, which is so competitive both his mother and grandfather still believe they can beat him one-on-one (Quickley insists that wouldn’t happen). Quickley knows being a Kentucky Basketball player won’t always be easy, but says his family and faith will help him stay strong.

“The challenges ahead are what’s going to make the journey great, and just having the support system of my family and having Jesus by my side is what’s going to help me a lot,” Quickley told TJ Beisner.

For more from Quickley and TJ’s take on Reid Travis’ first practice, check out’s “Behind Kentucky Basketball” podcast:

Also, look how adorable Quickley was as a baby:

He’s already a star off the court, we have a special young man representing our school a role model severely needed in this day and age!

I agree, he is already one of my favorites so far, but I do see a mean side in that young man. I bet he will be a dominant coach Cal guard by the time he leaves UK
