If the SEC Tournament started today…

If the SEC Tournament started today, Kentucky would be the four-seed playing in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon. The Cats would face the winner of Mississippi State vs. South Carolina/Ole Miss, setting up a potential semifinal rematch with Auburn.

Here are the current standings, factoring in tiebreakers:

Seed Team Record Games Remaining
1 Auburn 12-4 at Arkansas, South Carolina
2 Tennessee 11-5 at Miss. State, Georgia
3 ^ Florida 9-7 at Alabama, Kentucky
4 ^ Kentucky 9-7 Ole Miss, at Florida
5 ^ Mississippi State 9-7 Tennessee, at LSU
6 ^ Arkansas 9-7 Auburn, at Missouri
7 $ Missouri 8-8 at Vanderbilt, Arkansas
8 $ Alabama 8-8 Florida, at Texas A&M
9 % Georgia 7-9 Texas A&M, at Tennessee
10 % LSU 7-9 at South Carolina, Miss. State
11 % Texas A&M 7-9 at Georgia, Alabama
12 South Carolina 6-10 LSU, at Auburn
13 # Ole Miss 5-11 at Kentucky, Vanderbilt
14 # Vanderbilt 5-11 Missouri, at Ole Miss

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m just fine with this draw. In fact, with Auburn and Tennessee essentially locked in as the one and two-seeds, I’d much rather Kentucky be the four-seed than the three to avoid the Vols.

Really want the 3 seed. Simply would get to watch the game, unlike if we got the 4 seed

We need the three as vengeance game vs TN; would likely play Aub/Fla in the final
    Anyway

I’m down to win out and grab the 3, and then get the satisfaction of beating Tennessee and Auburn in rematches. I’m not to worried about facing either cause we would most likely have to face both to win the tourney anyway. I like how we are playing, and I like our team. And I’m willing to bank on the fact the arena will be mostly blue even in spite of where it’s located. I wanna see us play both to really see if we have improved as much as I’m hoping we have.

It’ll be mostly UK, Missouri, and Arkansas fans. Uk will probably have the most regardless. Tennessee and Auburn might have 200 fans combined. lol. And I think we’d win handily in a rematch with either.

I bet Knox, SGA, and company don’t want to avoid playing Tennessee. If we really think they’ve turned a corner and can compete in the NCAA tournament, playing Tennessee shouldn’t be of concern.

Like the 4 just because the turnaround time is longer. Playing as a 3 at 8 pm then 2 would be tougher

That being said, a 3 means UK wins out which would be better…

I’d take that… don’t want to see Texas AM early or Alabama.

We get the three-seed if we win out so I want the three-seed. Hoping for us to lose a game so we end up with the four-seed is nuts.

Also we are playing well enough now that we should beat anyone in the SEC and could beat anyone in the country. Of course even if we win out and win the SEC tournament, we aren’t getting better than a 4-seed – see 2011.

Exactly. I actually think we have a legitimate chance to win it all. I mean just look at Kansas. We would beat them now I think. We didn’t have Vanderbilt in the first matchup and they are going to be a 1 seed due to the vastly overrated big 12! I really hope we get them…
