Katina Powell and her daughters Rod-Ni and Lindsay appeared on ABC’s “The View” this morning to discuss the Louisville sex scandal. “The View” is a train wreck, so I fell on the sword and watched it so you wouldn’t have to.
11:00: Here we go! This will be fun, right? Listen to that peppy music! Oh look, those women are going to walk around New York for breast cancer awareness. Awesome!
11:02: Raven Symone?! What the hell is she doing on this show? I know Whoopie and Joy Behar, but who are the rest of these people?
11:03: Why are they randomly switching chairs? WAIT, is that DJ Tanner?!
11:04: The one in the middle — rewinds to intro– Michelle Collins, just said “I love being a bitch. It’s a powerful, powerful word. It’s a wonderful thing.” Huh?
11:05: Benghazi blah blah
11:06: It is clear most of these women are idiots. The worst part is that people are applauding their idiotic points. DJ Tanner and That’s So Raven talking about Benghazi is like the drunk sorority girl at the end of the bar talking about football. Just stop.
11:09: Commercial break, thank God.
11:14: In the segment called “Where did you learn about sex?”, the “I love being a bitch” girl just said: “My public school in Miami did teach abstinence along with other things and I also had Cinemax.” That’s So Raven one ups her with “ME TOO! I had the Spice Channel!”
This is absurd, but what a perfect intro for Katina and her girls.
11:18: Commercial break, but look what’s coming up!
11:23: Katina is sporting a fresh new ‘do and once again says she called the NCAA first but they didn’t offer any assistance.
11:25: That’s So Raven asks Katina’s motive in writing the book and mentions confidentiality agreements. Like Andre McGee would have been that smart! Katina keeps it real and says her motive was to “sell a book.”
11:27: Paula’s husband coached basketball once and said this stuff happens all the time so it’s not a big deal, right? Loud music, alcohol strippers, no biggie! NO, PAULA, IT DOESN’T HAPPEN EVERYWHERE. Coaches don’t pay women to have sex with players and recruits everywhere. If you’re husband is really telling you that, I suggest you have a talk with him.
11:27: Katina says although she started working for McGee in 2010, her daughters didn’t come in the picture until late 2013. When asked who would bring her own daughters into this, she said “My daughters brought their selves into the situation. …It was fun. The girls I had doing it were basically their ages. The basketball players were their ages.”
11:28: Despite the sex and the prostitution, the ladies of The View seem fixated on the LOUD MUSIC at these parties. That’s So Raven, aka Urban Dictionary, chimes in and says it was a “Turn-up.” Rod-Ni says that the parties were actually fun, “Going to the parties and being around the basketball players and all that…”
That’s So Raven interrupts to agree.
“It sounds fun! It sounds like a turn-up. I’m sorry! It sounds like a normal party.”
Rod-Ni silences her with side-eye.
“People make it seem worse,” Rod-Ni says. “It is a big deal. Everbody wasn’t right. At the end of the day, it’s not as bad as people make it seem.”
As That’s So Raven said, it was just a turn-up!
11:29: When asked if Pitino knew about it, Katina repeats her claim that Andre told her “Pitino knows about everything.”
When asked again, Katina keeps it real and says her main motivation in writing the book was to make money.
“It’s about the book and the money, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t,” Katina said. “I think people get the wrong perception. It’s like, ‘bash me because of what I’ve done,’ but the big picture is, do you want your child to come to college as a young boy and the leave as a grown man with 2 girls…you know. It was what it was.”
11:32: The same can be said for the last 32 minutes of my life. Pass the Advil.
UPDATE: If you really want to torture yourself, here’s the clip of their appearance.
