I believe John Calipari just took a shot at Duke on Twitter

How do I know John Calipari is feeling good? He starts taking swings at other programs. Oh yes, your basketball coach just lit College Basketball Twitter on fire with a post that was supposed to be about his squad, but is really about another team and their famous ESPN analyst alum with whom he’s been sparring.

Cal didn’t tag anyone in this tweet, but he didn’t need to. Between the Zion Williamson show at the NBA Draft, RJ Barrett going third, and his response to Jay Bilas’ comments that college don’t produce pros, it’s clear he’s talking about Duke.

Swaggy Cal engaged.

The best shot he could take at Duke would be to win another title.

You have to tread lightly when the team that you are trashing (if, in fact, it’s Duke), started the year by destroying you on national television. Fully agree that the best shot would be to keep your powder dry and win a title.

Nah, Cal doesn’t have to tread lightly. After all, that team that destroyed us and had 3 top 10 picks didn’t make it any farther than us in the tournament.

True BP, AND would have lost to UCF had it been called fairly…but it was not!

Yay! Can’t wait to hang the “at least Duke didn’t win it either” banner! That will look amazing hanging next to our national championship banners.

I luv it, Cal’s the man and he hit the nail on the head in that statement. Like has been said many times and some of are goofy goofy fans don’t get it, since Cal has been at UK he has been to more final 4s, elite 8s so he doesn’t need to change anything but maybe are luck at times. I would not want any other coach in the country as far as developing talent and winning goes he’s hands down the best.

Eh, they hit everything they threw at the rim; they had one other game like that all season, against Virginia. They were less than stellar in many games last season.
Kansas once beat UK by 55, but I think we’ve taken the measure of them since, particularly in ’12, and we avenged the ’92 game against Duke in ’98, and payback will come once again.
The times, they are a changin’ and Coach K won’t be able to adapt…unless he watches Cal.

Not when they didn’t make it any farther in the tournament than us. What good is a Nov win when you don’t win in March/April, right trashburnfan? If only championships matter, why do we care about Nov?

Yes mashbum….in a game that meant absolutely nothing! Funny you’re all about titles, yet when it comes to dUKe their biggest achievement (according to you) was beating UK by 34 in a game that meant nothing, then would have lost to UCF if the refs hadn’t swallowed their whistles at the end of the game where dUKe was concerned. Typical mash, you pick and choose bits and pieces to fit your agenda.

Duke beat us by 34 the first game of the year and needed the referees help to get past UCF in the tournament. We got beat by Duke by 34 and then worked to become one of the best teams in the country and go to the Elite 8. Thanks for helping to make Cal’s point, dingus.

There certainly is still plausible deniability that he was referring to Duke.

    Cal would flat-out deny it.

I’m a big Cal fan because of his vision for the players future! Championships are ok but these kids have lives to live.
Big picture BBN. Championships don’t validate you… Ask coach K

I think it’s important to take care of your players, but it’s also important to do the job that you are exceedingly well paid to do, i.e., win championships. Not sure how you can say that 5 national titles hasn’t validated K.

    • 4everUKblue
      10:19 pm June 25, 2019 Permalink

Let’s see…..K has been at the same school for 39 yrs, has had the best talent year in and year out even before the one and done era, has had some of the easiest brackets known to man. Look at the times he didn’t win where he lost and who to. Not to mention the NCAA and the refs treat him like he’s a crime boss, the man has zero integrity. I like my coach, if you don’t go ahead and jump ship, you won’t be missed.

I’d definitely take another title or 2 instead of another 20 NBA draftees. I realize that we have a chance every year to win one because of those future NBA stars and I know it also takes some luck, but geezzz, come on

I like my coach, too, 4ever, but you can’t overlook facts that don’t bolster your point of view. K wins a title every 7.8 years or so: Cal wins a title once in 23 years. Cal taking a swipe at K is a bit unseemly and implies a a degree of insecurity. I don’t care for K, his program, or the spoiled “crazies” who attend Duke games. That said, I would prefer that Cal do his talking on the court and refrain from thinly veiled insults. We are better than that.

You didn’t read my entire comment did you? Cal has never been and never will be treated like K has been. Go back and read the entire comment not just that K has been at dUKe for 39 yrs. I’ve been alive for his entire career at dUKe, I’ve seen him get the best talent every year, seen him be the last coach to have 4 yr players, seen the brackets he has been gifted, seen the breaks he has gotten. Have you? Were you paying attention? Now go look at his record when he didn’t win, look at how many times he lost in the round of 32, the sweet 16, etc. and look at who he lost to, don’t make me do your work for you. K has taken plenty of swipes at Cal and our program off the court. Go back and look at the scandals dUKe has had swept under the rug just in the last 10 or so yrs. Do you need me to make a list and give you links or can you take off your blinders for a few minutes and find them on your own?

One day in the not-to-distant future, Cal will retire. And all of you fools will get to finally see just how good we had it. I don’t care which coach we get. Doesn’t matter. The best we could hope for is an assistant who’s tenure under Cal has tonight them how to treat people and attract positivity and success the way Cal does. But if not, we will be back in the Billy G, Tubby (not the one year he inherited a stacked team) days-have a chance every every other year ? Maybe ?

Spoken like a coach who can’t recruit elite talent anymore lol. Remember when Wall and Cousins got all the attention? Monk and Fox? Davis and MKG? The fact is he hasn’t had elite players in a few years now, this is him spinning getting out recruited.
