Slow and steady wins the race? The last minute of the game felt like it lasted for an eternity (the technical Calipari says he deserved didn’t help), but the Cats eventually earned a late-night win over Mississippi State. The Cats left Rupp Arena with a 80-72 victory over the Bulldogs. With the win, Kentucky moves to 7-2 in the SEC.
After scoring just two points in the first half, Nick Richards came alive in the second. He finished the night with 27 points and 11 rebounds on 7-10 shooting while going 13-15 from the charity stripe. Immanuel Quickley surpassed the 20-point threshold as well, earning 21 points (14-of-14 from the free-throw line) over the Bulldogs. EJ Montgomery was consistently productive for the Cats. He had 12 points and eight rebounds in 32 minutes.
