High schooler nails game winning shot from half court

They are calling it “The Miracle at Male,” and if you haven’t seen the video of this impressive clutch shot, you got to see it to believe it.

Friday evening, the clock was ticking down as Male High School in Louisville was trying desperately to put up some last minute points against St. Xavier during a tied game.

As the Male boys basketball team raced down the court for one last shot to win it all, the ball was deflected toward midcourt and the chances of Bulldog’s edging out a win dwindled.

Cue Alex Cook, a top candidate for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball, who scrambled from the top of the key and heaved a gutsy half court shot at the basket as the buzzer sounded.

Amazingly, he nailed it, clinching a 65-62 victory for his team and some court-storming from fans.

“That’s kind of a once-in-a-lifetime ending,” said Willie Feldhaus, Cook’s coach, about the game-winning shot.

While the buzzer-beater is impressive, I’m hoping Cook is still alive after the crushing he probably received from the swarm of fans eager to congratulate the hero of the night.

I shot that game, and it was kinda surreal seeing that shot go it. The ball really looked like it was going to fall short from where I was sitting. Quite an ending to a well-played game.

I’m pretty sure Male won that game on their own home. The writer of the article should notice the banners on the gym wall and the huge H at center court.

Manual grad here…I was at that game. Connor Mckim for Saint X should not be forgotten, he’s like no player i’ve ever seen before.

Not sure why everyone is talking about this and kinda going viral. There are half court shot’s for wins all the time, nothing special.
