Have a night, Monk

Malik Monk had the hot hand in Madison Square Garden tonight as he connected on seven of his three-points attempts for 21 of his game-high 23 points. The big night put the star freshman on the college basketball map and answered some of Big Blue Nation’s questions about the team’s outside shooting, at least for a little while.
You and I were little surprised by Monk’s three-point barrage, but the game did not come as a surprise to his head coach. Coach Cal said he knew Monk was in for a big evening during shootaround, which he called one of the best shootarounds he’s seen in 30 years of coaching. The boy was lighting it up, apparently.
After the game, Monk said he wasn’t fazed by the big crowd in Madison Square Garden. He’s used to big crowds, he says, after coming up as the best player in Arkansas. Nothing new here. He’s always been a big game guy.
