On this fourth day of August, we want to wish former UK basketball player and current color analyst, Mike Pratt, a very happy birthday. The Dayton, Ohio native turns 71 years young today.

During his time in Lexington, Pratt averaged 16.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Those numbers landed him in both the UK Athletics Hall of Fame and the state of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.

As a player, he was bestowed with honors like second team All-American, first team All-SEC twice and even becoming an Academic All-American.

After leaving Lexington, Pratt played two seasons for the Kentucky Colonels in the old ABA before making his way to the sidelines as a coach. He served as an assistant under Lee Rose at Charlotte before taking the reigns for himself and coaching the 49ers for four seasons.

For many younger fans, Pratt is known as Tom Leach’s partner during basketball broadcasts. His calm and smooth delivery has continued to improve over the years and he has turned into one of the better announcers for the game of basketball.

Be sure to reach out to Pratt on Twitter @MikePratt22 to wish him a very happy 71st birthday!

Good solid guard and remember seeing number 22 out on the court as a young child. Happy B-Day!

Happy birthday, Mike. You are one of the best offense rebounders I ever saw play for the Wildcats.
