In the third period of the USA vs Italy game Hamidou Diallo had what looked like a heated exchange with by one of the Italian players, after his lay up attempt was denied. Fellow teammate, Auburn center Austin Wiley, grabbed his arm and had him shake the incident off, as the other player appeared to keep talking to him.
Talking smack is part of sports, but according to Cameron Reddish talking of any kind has been rare in this international tournament due to the language barrier.
Language isn’t the only difference the teams have to adjust to.
“It’s different calls, different referees, different playing styles, different teams I mean so it’s pretty much just different I would say,” explained Wildcat Diallo, but added thoughtfully, “All in all it’s just basketball at the end of the day.”
