HALF: Kentucky behind 38-33 in a game of 8 on 5

Thanks to the officials, Kentucky’s first half was not ideal. De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Bam Adebayo, and Derek Willis all have two fouls and spent a good portion of the first half on the bench, but Dominique Hawkins has kept the Cats in it, leading the way with 10 first-half points. Kentucky trails UNC 38-33, but with so many scorers on the bench, it could be a lot worse.

Even Jay Williams agrees the officiating is crap:

Here’s hoping for a better second half…

Putting a placeholder here for the one guy who always says the officials are great to explain how Monk getting knocked to the floor in front of an official isn’t a foul, how hanging on the rim causing the ball to go in isn’t offensive goal tending, how Willis has less right to the loose ball and is therefore a foul, how Multiple contacts on the last UK drive of the half with contact from 2 players isn’t a foul, etc.

No sense trying to explain it to BBN, they only see calls one way, but will try. Bam had his off arm on the guys head and neck on the tip in. Willis had the guys arm, I mean they slow mo replayed it clear as day. Last drive guy held his ground, he is entitled to that, and arms hit ball. The Bam basket interference call was missed but it took slow mo replay to see it so real time was hard to judge, they should have let it count. Bam with a dumb reach to get 2nd foul. Did think first foul on Fox was iffy, he looked to be in a legal guarding position and is allowed to be moving to maintain guarding position, I thought he did that, even in real time. Bottom line is up 5 they go zone and Cal does nothing, they go on 12-0 run, GAME OVER. Give him another $8 million though cause our big day is coming in June, the NBA Draft is the new standard for UK basketball.

    The team didn’t deserve this.

Loved the year. Exciting end of game. But for the love of God you can’t give up a 5 point lead that far into the game then let the other team go on a 12-0 run. I’m going there…..coaching.

Agree, nice to see some logic. Most will blame refs, like normal. You have a young team, that did not play well {the young guys} and you do nothing to help them adjust with plenty of timeouts left {3}. Can’t win titles depending on Freshman and to add bad coaching. Only reason we were in this game is the play of some veterans in Dom and Hump, one who never plays and is considering leaving. But the new standard for UK is coming, the June Draft will be here soon.

So – is this the point where I’m supposed to be told that you can’t let the refs decide the game ?

Screw watching basketball. This was awful.

I hope the Final Four ends in a crater.

Also Monk was fouled on the 3 that tied the game. As for the Willis foul on the loose ball, if it was a foul why did the ref wait until 3 others players touched it and ends up in Hump’s hands to call it? Because it was a bad call. It’s a play-on, if Monk getting shoved to the ground is.

And before y’all delete all my comments … was I the only one, after all that shit show, that watched Cal almost stroke out running up to shake hands with UNC ?

Wears no:you absolutely are a big blue fan, that’s obvious.I have friends that are unc fans that were glad their team won.,they also said the officiating was horrendous. We,as in real BBN fans have indeed won a national championship with a freshman dominated team. And you lost all credibility when you said Calipari is not a good coach, but anyway congrats on your tarholes’s referred assisted victory.
