Georgia got Monk’d; UK avoids third consecutive loss

Malik Monk
Malik Monk

The upset was in Georgia’s hands, that is, until Malik Monk caught the ball with 10 seconds to go and drained a contested two-point jumper to send the game to overtime.

The Monk Show continued in the extra period as Kentucky went on to win, 90-81, led by Monk and his 37 points. 31 of those came in second half and OT.

He’s a bad, bad man.

What’s worse than a 9:00 game on a Tuesday night. That’s right, one that goes into overtime. Happy for the win though.

You know you don’t have to watch the game, right? If you are not getting any enjoyment out of it, then you probably don’t need to be watching it.

i love watching the games as much as the next guy, but 9:00 games for east coast schools are stupid. who gives a damn about the west coast? I WANT TO WATCH MY TEAM

Waaaaaahhhhh Briscoe sucks. He only got 23 points 11 rebounds and 8 assists and kept them in the game when everybody else couldn’t pull it together.

Ok now all the dummies who really believe that make sure to explain why he sucked just like you made up stuff last game.

I know right? Briscoe is garbage.

No but seriously, Briscoe is a monster. He is so tough. What is the reason for him being so low on all of the mock drafts.

I’m not going to say Briscoe sux, he is a great rebounder and can be a good passer, but his game is SO predictable, the entire world knows he wants to go to the rim, and he forces way to many drives.Case and point, He almost cost us the game at the end of regulation, first he forces a drive and gets fly swatted out of bounds, then somehow he gets the ball again and FORCES ANOTHER drive and almost turns it over! Finally Cal calls a timeout and calls a play for Malik. I mean you can be a non shooter and not have a predictable game, like D.Fox. He’s not a shooter but he mixes in a nice mid range game, and effective passing to keep the defense off balance. Briscoe has no mid range game everything is at the rim. I’ll be happy when he leaves for the league after this year, I just get nervous when he has the ball and is in full freight train down the lane mode.

      …Allday
Predictable got us 23- 11 and 8 but almost cost us the game? We wouldn’t have been close to winning without Briscoe tonight. You are amongst the worst of “fans.”

Please expound 4everblue. Wait. Sorry I used a complicated word. Expound means tell us more. The adults in the room know what happened and keep seeing a bunch of you dump stuff on Briscoe that just isn’t real.

No “ships”? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure we got one in 2012.

Lay off the pills, boy. Do something with your life.

This team has not had but maybe 1 game when all played their best or even above average. They are starting to get to that point and when they do. Watch out! Can u imagine any team beating us when fox, monk, briscoe and bam play their best? Game over noone beats us.

      12:19 am February 1, 2017 Permalink

Yeah, issues.. hey, did you notice they played this game without their Wooden Award Watch List point guard?
Did you notice their only inside presence was on the bench in foul trouble? Did you notice they came back from being down 12 – 0?
      Did you notice they WON?

      Yeah.. issues

Certainly interesting; we saw some different combinations on the floor, saw some zone and the chemistry between all the players was good….I thought everybody played well, and played hard.
The measure of a team is how they handle adversity.

    • CATandMONKEY

This says it all. Despite a rough start and some rough spots, I am not worried about this team and encouraged by their ability to play through adversity, regardless of the source of that adversity.

It wasn’t all pretty, but this team took a step forward tonight in learning to grind one out.

Hawkins stat line was pretty pedestrian but it didn’t show the fouls he drew on defense. He took two possessions away in the OT

Can cal please only recruit guards that can shoot. These guards that have zero shooting abilities are frustrating
