Georgia fires Mark Fox

Georgia’s win over Missouri wasn’t enough to save Mark Fox’s job. ESPN is reporting that Georgia and Fox are parting ways after nine seasons.

Fox was 163-133 during his time in Athens, which included two NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2015). John Calipari came to Fox’s defense several times this season — including yesterday after Kentucky beat Georgia — but with the SEC improving by the season, Georgia officials clearly didn’t want to give him any more time.

Both the Ole Miss and Georgia jobs are now open. Hopefully neither of the schools are dumb enough to hire Rick Pitino.

0-18 in the ACC … can’t imagine how they think that is a good hire right now.

Sorry to hear that about Fox, but not a surprise.

Isn’t there a “show cause” for anyone hiring Pitino from stripper-gate? And if there isn’t yet, don’t we expect there will be from the Bowen fiasco?

Sucks, Mark Fox is a class act who does things the right way. A couple of his bad seasons were due to not letting players play due to off-the-court issues, and they were guys they could’ve used those years

They said Roy Williams and Bo Ryan did things the right way as well. Truth is we never know.

He won’t be out of a job for long….and whichever school hires him, is getting a class act, great recruiter, and a by-the-book coach. If for some reason he doesn’t get hired soon, or at least over the summer, Cal should offer him a position as AC and for recruiting.

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to let him go right now. If I were an AD I’d be afraid to hire anyone at this time.
