GAMEDAY: Kentucky Travels to Missouri

Kentucky hits the road to play Missouri today at 2:00 on CBS.  It’s the first of two match-ups between the Cats and the Tigers this season.  Neither game will have the hype we expected in the preseason because the No. 1 player in the 2017 recruiting class, Michael Porter Jr., has been forced to the sideline with a back injury.  The Tigers don’t have their biggest guns, but Cuonzo Martin still has some weapons.

Grad transfer Kassius Roberston and Jordan Barnett are the Tigers’ top two scorers.  They combine for 30 points a game and each makes 41 percent of their three-point attempts.  In the frontcourt, Kevin Puryear provides stability while Porter Jr.’s brother Jontay brings a smooth style of play for a guy his size.

After dropping three of five, Kentucky brings a three-game winning streak to Columbia.  The only consistency during the streak is UK’s inconsistency and their resiliency to overcome huge deficits.  Today we’ll see if they can put together a complete 40-minute performance in a difficult road environment.

Kentucky’s Excellent Record vs. Mizzou

Kentucky has never lost to the Missouri Tigers.  That feels weird to say out loud, but it’s true.  Kentucky is 10-0 vs. Missouri.

Before the Tigers came to the SEC in 2012, Kentucky won all four match-ups.  Since their arrival, Cal’s Cats have dominated.  The closest game in the series was their first as SEC foes.  With College Gameday in town, Julius Mays out-gunned Phil Pressy with 24 points to lead Kentucky to a 90-83 overtime victory.

TV, Radio, Vegas

TV — An early 2:00 tip-off on CBS with Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery on the call.

Radio — KSR Pregame Show on 630 WLAP at 11:30. Hear Leach and Pratt on the UK Sports Network, Sirius-137 and XM-190.

Vegas — Mizzou -1.5

T-Shirt Time!

Mizzou is having a “Stripe Out” today at Mizzou Arena, because of course.  The student section has reached its limits and it’s safe to say you can expect to see a sell out.  It’s going to be pretty wild in Columbia, but nothing the Cats haven’t seen before.

Sick Cal

John Calipari has been under the weather all week.  Prior to Tuesday night’s game, he was forced to leave the shoot-around.  He hasn’t done an interview all week.  Calipari is expected to be in Columbia today, hopefully back to 100 percent.

“and it’s safe to say you can expect to see a sell out” yep would be safe to say since they have sold out almost every home game this year. And to think we did not play in any of those games but they still sold out a dozen times or so. Hope we don’t have a let down after that HUGE emotional home win vs that Vandy power house team.
