Tonight we’ll get to press pause on the FBI scandal that has consumed college basketball to watch the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Missouri Tigers at Rupp Arena.
The last time these two met, it was an ugly, knock down, drag ’em out. Kentucky couldn’t buy a bucket and The Streak almost snapped. After two consecutive UK wins, that game feels like it happened three months ago instead of three weeks ago.
As Kentucky turns around their tumultuous season, Missouri is trending in the opposite direction. After winning five straight, the Tigers have dropped their last two, including an embarrassing home overtime loss to Ole Miss. They’re still in play for an NCAA Tournament bid in Cuonzo Martin’s first season, but the Tigers could certainly use some late-season momentum with a win over UK.
Porter Jr., Knox will likely Play
The top two NBA prospects on each team will likely take the Rupp Arena court. Michael Porter Jr. has been cleared to play. There’s no official word that he’ll play today, but don’t be surprised when he takes the court. The transition will not be seamless, but he’s good enough to make an impact vs. Kentucky.
Kevin Knox’s name was in yesterday’s Yahoo report, but John Calipari expects him to play. “At this point, I believe so,” Cal said yesterday afternoon. “I mean (unless) there is something I don’t know.”
An SEC Tourney Double-Bye on the Line
Entering today Kentucky is tied with five other teams for third place in the SEC. One of those teams is Missouri. A win would not clinch a Friday start at the SEC Tournament, but it would go a long way to help. An Auburn win over Florida and a South Carolina upset over Miss. State would also prop up Kentucky in the standings.

It was a Bad Day for the Millers
An hour after ESPN reported Sean Miller was recorded on a wiretap talking about a $100,000 deal for DeAndre Ayton, Archie Miller’s Hoosiers let a win slip away in double overtime.
