GAMEDAY: Kentucky Hosts Ole Miss

The Kentucky Wildcats enter Rupp Arena for the final time in the 2017-18 season with a three-game winning streak.  They’ll face the SEC’s second to last place Ole Miss Rebels, who have won just once in their last nine games.  The Rebels will travel to Lexington without Andy Kennedy, the school’s all-time winningest coach, who stepped down ten days ago.  We’ll miss you Randy.

A Senior Day without a Senior

Kentucky’s final home game at Rupp Arena will not feature the annual pregame pomp and circumstance for Senior Day.  It’s the first time Kentucky has not ended the season with a Senior Day since World War II.  Tonight will not be as fun without the traditional Senior Day activities, but the show must go on.

TV, Radio, Vegas

TV — A 7:00 tip-off on ESPN2 with Karl Ravach and Dan Dakich on the call.

Radio — KSR Pregame Show at Shakespeare and Co. on 630 WLAP at 5:30. Hear Leach and Pratt on the UK Sports Network, Sirius-134 and XM-191.

Vegas — Kentucky -11

The Tale of the Tape

A Beautiful Buzzer-Beater

Buzzer-beater SZN is officially back, just in time for Championship Week.  Last night we saw the best kind of buzzer-beater, the kind that rips out the hearts of North Carolina fans on Senior Night.

I’m not sure why the official kept blowing his whistle, but I still don’t think he’s stopped.

Race for the Double-Bye

Kentucky’s SEC competition did no favors for UK last night.  Tied with three other teams, Miss. State was the only one to lose.  Arkansas upset Auburn and Florida dismantled Alabama.  A win tonight will create a three-way tie for third between the Cats, Hogs and Gators entering the final game of the regular season.  See the complete SEC standings here.

A Ninth Inning Rally

Kentucky was scoreless for eight innings vs. WKU.  Ryan Johnson started the bottom of the ninth with a solo shot over the right field wall to start a four-run, game-winning rally.

I think he’s just a west coast guy. His momma is out that way.

      Agree w/ Swizzle.

      Knox – gone
      Shai – probably gone
Hami – either transfer or NBA
      Sacha – transfer
Gabriel – getting recruited over, leave or transfer

Only like 5 more games to a whole new team!

strongly disagree that Hami would transfer…NBA maybe but not transfer. Also strongly disagree that Gabriel will transfer or leave. Doubt Shai is gone, but don’t feel as strongly about that one, it’s possible.

IMO, WKU is the best team that UK baseball has faced this year.

That official at the end of the UNC game looked like TV Teddy.

Yes, but I can’t believe we’re playing a team w/o their head coach. That’s the kind of luck that always happens to U of L.

I love the audio in the UNC game… the place explodes when they tie it and stays at that volume… until it actually gets LOUDER on the last second loss when all the fans collectively shout “NOOO!” and then go nearly silent.
