Howdy, friends. How is everyone getting on with their Friday afternoons? With the rest of the crew off at Kentucky Oaks, I spent the morning having some fun in the KSR Facebook comments, so if you’d like, go check that out. Poor Jeremy had it coming.

Here are five notes to get you through the afternoon…

1. UK Football got its TaxSlayer Bowl bobble heads

@UKFootball

@UKFootball

You didn’t think they were stopping with bowl rings, did you? UK received their final gifts from the TaxSlayerBowls, custom bobbleheads of each player. Pictured above are suddenly slender Naquez Pringle and Stephen Johnson. Big fan of these.

2. Kroger and UK are now advertising double fuel point weekends

I think double fuel point weekends in the summer were already a thing, but clever marketing by Kroger here. The jokes really have written themselves.

3. If you’re having a Derby gathering tomorrow, here’s my bourbonade recipe

I’m not a fan of mint juleps, so a while back, I came up with bourbonade as an alternative.

Mrs. T’s Bourbonade

2 cups ice tea (unsweetened)
1/2 cup sugar or Splenda
1 12 oz can frozen lemonade
1 12 oz can frozen limeade
1 750 ml bottle of bourbon
7 cups water

Enjoy. It’s delicious

4. It’s Game 5 of Preds/Blues tonight

The Preds have a 3-1 lead in the series, which heads to St. Louis for Game 5 tonight. If the Preds take care of business, they’ll advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. That’s HUGE. The Preds have become one of the darlings of the NHL Playoffs due to an incredible home atmosphere, and while the experience isn’t quite as good watching on TV as it is in person, there’s still time for you to hop on the bandwagon. Alex Poythress and Avery Johnson are on board, so come #StandWithUs.

I’m still celebrating Ryan Ellis and James Neal’s goals from Tuesday night:

Game 5 starts at 8 p.m. ET and will be shown on NBC Sports Network.

5. Finally, here’s a hilarious UofL cheerleading routine from 1984 to brighten this dreary day:

Ah, the 80s…

    A lot of people in Southern and Western Kentucky care about the Preds. Probably many more than care that you dont care.

    I dunno. I know it’s all 80sish, but what’s so hilarious about it? Aren’t all cheerleading routines kinda hokey and over enthusiastic? Isn’t that the point?

    Also, wasn’t that when they could do those three person high towers which were then banned due to a cheerleader becoming paralyzed?

    The bourbonade can also be put in the freezer. When thawed it’s slushy which is why we call it bourbon slush. We always have bourbon slush in the freezer just in case a party breaks out.
