Frank Martin’s got jokes!

As usual, South Carolina’s Frank Martin brought the jokes to SEC Media Days, quipping that John Calipari is bringing in more McDonald’s All-Americans than the fast food giant puts out cheeseburgers:

“McDonald’s used to put up sign ‘2 billion served.’ Cal is going to have to put up ‘200 billion McDonald’s All-Americans served.’ …I have an unbelievable amount of respect for him. He’s a relentless recruiter and coaches as well as anyone else in the country. To take on that challenge of coaching guys for one year is as hard as it gets. A couple years ago when they won the championship, they had some phenomenal young players, but the guys that came through down the stretch were his upperclassmen. He didn’t have that last year, but he’s got it this year. I expect their team to be real good this year.”

We’re loving it.

I have a lot of respect for Frank Martin, and I like the way he carries himself. I hope he does well at South Carolina, maybe comes in second behind UK every year.

Anyone have any real insight on Martin’s team for this year. I have never been a great fan of his and, frankly, have little confidence that he will be any improvement over USC’s last coach but you never know.

This will have to be the default comments section for the Behanan story. I think the default response from the media will still say MJ was wrong, as UofL is releasing the info several months after MJ said whatever happened happened and it regards a different player.

The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team is a college basketball team representing the University of Kentucky. Kentucky has both the most all-time wins (2111) and the highest all-time winning percentage in the history of college basketball (.762).

Kentucky’s all-time record currently stands at 2111—661. Kentucky also leads all schools in total NCAA tournament appearances with 52, is first in NCAA tournament wins with 111, and ranks second to UCLA in NCAA championships with 8. In addition to these titles, Kentucky also has won the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in both 1946 and 1976, making them the only school to win multiple NCAA and NIT championships.

The Wildcats have played in a record 52 NCAA Tournaments, in a record 157 NCAA Tournament games, have a NCAA record 39 Sweet-16 appearances, a NCAA record 34 Elite-8 appearances, and have a NCAA record 61 total post-season tournament appearances (NCAA and NIT). Further, Kentucky has played in 15 Final Fours (tied with Duke for 3rd place all time), and has 11 NCAA Championship Game appearances (second all time to UCLA), winning 8 NCAA Championships (second all time to UCLA).

Kentucky also leads all schools with 57 20-win seasons, 13 30-win seasons, and is the only school with 5 different NCAA Championship coaches (Rupp, Hall, Pitino, Smith, Calipari).

The Wildcats play their home games in Rupp Arena, a facility named for their former coach, Adolph Rupp. Rupp Arena is the largest arena in the United States built specifically for basketball, with an official capacity of 23,500. As a result, Kentucky consistently ranks first in the nation in home game attendance.

The team’s huge fan base is often referred to as the “Big Blue Nation” or the “Big Blue Mist”, the latter because the fans typically engulf tournament and neutral-site venues. Likewise, the team itself is often referred to as the “Big Blue”. In the 1980s the team was credited with popularizing Midnight Madness.

    The truth about Shane:

He is a pot head. That’s it. I mess with a girl who is best friends with one of chanes toys at uofl.

    That’s all he did.

Have heard similar stories to the effect that Chane and Kevin like the herb. Nothing earth shattering, but when you are warned several times and you don’t change your behavior, expect consequences. Hate to see it, because he has a great future. That being said, I expect him to be playing by mid December. Remember who we are dealing with here – Pitino, the KING of hyperbole. Even though it was reported that it was Jurich who levied the suspension, I am still not convinced that he will not get another chance. I think this was just a way to truly get Chane’s attention. It should.

Get ’em Matt!!!! You should just leave Loserville and move to Lex. Their media and school is so corrupt. If you are within your legal rights, you should leak the real reason Behenan got suspended. That would just be too good!
