Former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith turns 68

Happy Birthday to former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith, who turns 68 years young today.

The 1998 National Champion is now the head coach at his alma mater High Point University in North Carolina. Last season, the Panthers finished with a record of 16-15.

Last year, I published an article saying how it was time for the university to add Smith’s name to the rafters at Rupp Arena. My opinion on that has not changed.

It’s time for Tubby to be in the Rafters

If we can’t get that here in the next few years, we should at least have the opportunity to see High Point come to Rupp Arena for a non-conference game. It would fit Cal’s mold of a very winnable game and bringing the Kentucky connection back.

I mean would you rather see Monmouth/North Dakota or Tubby and High Point? To me, the answer is simple.

Happy Birthday though to the former head man!
