After putting a 29-point beatdown on Louisville, rivalry games have not been kind to the Kentucky basketball team.
For just the second time in the history of Kentucky basketball, the Wildcats went 0-4 against Tennessee and Florida. UK was also swept by the Vols and Gators in the 1966-67 season.
Kentucky’s 13-point loss to Florida gave the Gators a season-sweep of the rivalry. That is not uncommon; the Gators won all three match-ups in 2014. Much like the 2014 losses, one came at the buzzer and the other was one of the worst games of the season.
The hurt is compounded by Rocky Top’s success. The two games against Tennessee mirrored the two losses to Florida. Each loss at Rupp was by two and came down to the final possession. The 11-point loss in Knoxville was the worst in SEC play until today.
