For the First Time Since 1967, Tennessee and Florida Swept Kentucky

After putting a 29-point beatdown on Louisville, rivalry games have not been kind to the Kentucky basketball team.

For just the second time in the history of Kentucky basketball, the Wildcats went 0-4 against Tennessee and Florida.  UK was also swept by the Vols and Gators in the 1966-67 season.

Kentucky’s 13-point loss to Florida gave the Gators a season-sweep of the rivalry.  That is not uncommon; the Gators won all three match-ups in 2014.  Much like the 2014 losses, one came at the buzzer and the other was one of the worst games of the season.

The hurt is compounded by Rocky Top’s success.  The two games against Tennessee mirrored the two losses to Florida.  Each loss at Rupp was by two and came down to the final possession.  The 11-point loss in Knoxville was the worst in SEC play until today.

It’s a rare low for UK basketball, but at least UK football beat Tennessee and Flori—.

I actually remember that season. Riley had a ruptured disc in his back and could barely walk. Also, we really missed Conley and Kron. That was a rough season, including, I believe, a loss to Rutgers, of all people.

Issel, Pratt and Casey were freshmen that year, leading Coach Rupp to becoming one of the early advocates of freshmen eligibility.

That team had injuries and a losing record if you lose at home like we did that year and this year you have a pretty good chance to get swept Nick

Nick, are you really Jerry Tipton? You seem to write nothing but the negative things about these Cats. Did one steal your girlfriend? Run over your dog? Say something bad about your hair?

You seem to look at the hole, not the doughnut. You might want to change your saying.

Nice post nick. I swear Smyrna needs a website that bows down to John Calipari and every single thing better be 100% positive. Lets not speak the truth. Even lie a little to make it sound better. Smyrna is the worst commenter in the history of ksr

BBND – you are a UL Troll. You like anything said that is negative about the Cats. I am glad we don’t agree … that makes you a lousy UK fan … but it makes you a sorry UL Fan because you are a wolf in sheeps clothing. Why aren’t you banned yet?

And if you notice, this “blurb” of Nick’s, which once again seems to celebrate when things don’t go well this, there is no reference to Cal.

Perhaps we could recognize that we don’t lose very often in the SEC … that should be celebrated.

UK is no longer top in the SEC. Cal is once again getting outcoached by mediocre coaches which tells me he himself is mediocre at best.

Geez, UL Troll, give it up. We either won or tied (once) the SEC in 5 of the last 7 years.
