Florida hits last-second three to knock off No. 1 seed LSU

That, my friends, was a fun game. No. 8 seed Florida just knocked off No. 1 seed LSU 76-73 thanks to a long three by Andrew Nembhard, the icing on top of a tasty two hours of hoops.

Nembhard’s three answered an equally clutch shot by LSU big man Naz Reid to tie the game at 73:

Whew. If you prefer dunks, the game had plenty of those too.

The Gators advance to the semifinals to play the winner of Auburn/South Carolina, which is about to get underway. Catch the fever!

Man I tell you..Florida played a hell of a game today!

I think LSU will regroup and will be a damn dangerous 3 seed…they can take out any 2 seed they will run into.

Going to be interesting to see if they can get back on track.

Yea sec has 4-5 really good teams in the big dance . Sec suprised me this year with how many deadly teams evolved out of it through out the season . I learned this season that you can’t tell squat about any team in November . They all tighten up and few become flat out deadly

Been watching basketball for 45 years, saw two things in the Fla – LSU game that I’ve never seen before: a possible 7 point possession (Florida scored 6 of 7), and a ball that was rolled down court to save time… being stolen

Letting teams save time when it takes a 2 or better to tie/win save time to get a shot off is something which has always bugged me to no end. It’s easier to get a shot off with more time to move the ball. It also bothers me when teams foul the ball handler if he’s the best shooter, if you tackle the worst shooter they have to call it.

Saw Lebron do it a week or so ago, he let it roll all the way to the three point line, picked it up, took an uncontested three and missed to lose the game.

One more thing. Javante Smart was invetigated and found to be guilty of no wrong-doing by LSU. In other words, he took no money. Why the he** is their coach still suspended if there was no money given to a player??? Answer that, LSU

If the coach tried to pay the player, he should be suspended.

Smart was forth coming and honest (they presume) in interviews with LSU and the NCAA. Wade on the other hand has been dodging the interviews. If he would interview and be honest then he can coach. Until then…

Actually, if he sat down to be interviewed and told the truth, he would almost certainly be fired. Or he could lie about it, coach now and be fired later.

The kid simply said “No..I didn’t take anything”.

The NCAA would have to get access to bank records..tax statements etc…

This doesn’t mean he is not guilty.

Smart knows that by the time the NCAA can actually investigate and prove anything, he’ll be long gone to the NBA. So why not go ahead and play now?

    Hahahaha.
The thing about that LSU team is that there is little character and no unity. Just a lot of talent.

Give Florida a lot of credit for continuing to fight (and finally make some shots in the second half), but LSU had opportunity after opportunity to put the game away in the first half, and didn’t do it. They were dominating FLorida in every facet, and should have been up 15-20 at halftime. The 6-point possession for Florida will get talked about a lot, I’m sure (the shot shouldn’t have counted), but LSU let Florida back in the game to make that play significant. I’d say Florida may have just knocked Bama off the bubble.
