Flashback Friday: Malik Monk Dropped 50 on Lonzo Ball

Screen Shot 2017-03-24 at 8.38.47 AM

When Kentucky takes the court with UCLA tonight in Memphis, all eyes will be on Lonzo Ball and De’Aaron Fox.  The matchup between two of the nation’s best three point guards will get all the hype, but Malik Monk can not be forgotten.

Two years ago Monk went toe-to-toe with Ball at the Tournament of Champions in Missouri.  The juniors did not disappoint.  Ball had a triple-double — 19 points, 15 assists, 12 rebounds — and Monk scored 50 points.  Watch the highlights that begin with Monk’s AND 1 off an alley-oop.

Sounds like they both had a good game, but which TEAM won the game?

Ball’s Chino Hills team beat Monk’s Bentonville Arkansas team in the consolation game. Oak Hill Academy won the event.

Ball should go back to a short haircut. Less homely looking back then.

Hope Monk does just enough to survive and advance, then save fiddy for the Natty.
