If Nick Richards isn’t a 1st team All-American I don’t know who is! Helluva game big fella

Yeah, why isn’t he higher on the draft boards? Anyone believe Maxey is an NBA player at this point? Quickley is much more ready

Thank God for Quickley and Richards! Maxey was HORRENDOUS and Hagans wasn’t much better. Junior Nick Richards is by far the most important piece for this team and without him they would likely have at least 4-5 more losses.

Agreed that Maxey played terribly, but if it weren’t for Ashton’s defense & his ability to penetrate & get his teammates open shots, we lose that game & it’s not even close. He does A LOT that gets unnoticed & doesn’t end up in the stat line. His defensive stop at the end is the reason that game didn’t go into double overtime. Give the kid credit where it’s due

I agree with you about Maxey but Hagans made several huge plays and was huge on defense.

What an incredible game and a great win for the Cats.
Who would have believed that Nick Richards is the same guy we saw two years ago.

Good win…showed a lot of fight. Didn’t play well at all down the stretch. Credit Tech defense and refs. They were really leaning Tech’s way in the second half. We stopped attacking and that allowed them to get back in the game. Nick Richards first team All American

Other than Nick being an absolute monster, three posters & free throws were the reason we won that game. 7/15 from 3 & 21/25 from the charity stripe. I think tech was like 3/19 from outside

    • CrystalBall

7 of 15 threes will win ball games.

    • Wyman70

Tech was 3/19 from 3 point range. Does anyone else think maybe Cal should have gone to a zone defense sometime during the game to see if we could shut them down with it? I don’t know, maybe we win by 25 instead of going to overtime?

15 turnovers between the 3 guards is unacceptable. Most of which were unforced . Other that that I loved the fight! A win in that kind of environment only helps going forward.

Remember UofL got Destroyed by this team. Games should have never gone into overtime. However though what a major major win for this Kentucky team. UK’s NET ranking should get a nice boost. They play a bad Vanderbilt team on Wednesday at home. Should be a blowout win which could be just what the doctor ordered, for UK. I think I speak for every member of the BBN when I say that Texas Tech has earned our respect tonight that’s for damn sure that is one Savage and dangerous basketball team who I hope we never have to play again this season or ever again. Go Cats!!!

    • lexattorney

The Vanderbilt game Wednesday will tell us a lot about the mental toughness of this team. If they can stay focused and take care of business after a huge win and another massive game coming up against Auburn then they may well have made some progress. Otherwise, there is still A LOT of work (and worry) in the future.

    • lexattorney
      9:25 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

That is also a Vanderbilt team that is currently down big at South Carolina and hasn’t won a conference game since 2 seasons ago. They will be hungry to give Stackhouse his first signature win against the class of the conference. This is the EPITOME of the trap game.

Is a good win since it was on the road and we won’t face many good teams in SEC. Facts still show TTU is tied for 5th in their Conf and is projected as a 9 to 11 seed although I think they are better than that.

We get that same Tech team on a neutral site with neutral officiating, we win by 10-15 points. Solid team yes, but they definitely fed off the crowd’s energy & got plenty of favorable calls in that 2nd half/overtime. If we limit our turnovers to just 12, that game isn’t even close at the end of regulation. They scored a ton of points of our careless turnovers

    • CJKAssassin123
      10:13 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

Tech also missed a ton of 3-point shots as well.

Great win, that place was rocking, they said tickets were going for $400. Clean up the unforced turnovers and we win it in regulation. There were so many times whike being completely unguarded and getting called for traveling(s), backcourts, carries, carelessly stepping out of bounds

    • CJKAssassin123
      9:15 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

have we would have won this game regulation if it not work for the lane violation at the end cuz I Richards hit that second free throw that didn’t count do the lane violation so we would have won by one point.

I have never seen a team that gets so many bad calls against them. Every single game there are at least 2-3 calls that are ridiculous. The refs need to be held accountable. Makes you wonder if they have money riding on the game or they just hate Kentucky.

    • CJKAssassin123
      10:11 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

I think they just hate Cal. Cow does have a tendency to ruffle their feathers pretty often in games.

    • 4everUKBlue
      10:14 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

Their feathers need ruffling with some of the calls they make, there was at least one obvious flop that was called a foul on Kentucky.

    • CJKAssassin123
      10:26 pm January 25, 2020 Permalink

I think Cal should get thrown out of more games this season especially if our team responds by playing out of their mind good every game Cal gets tossed in.

What did Jimmy Dykes call that Tchewa guy, a difference maker or something like that after scoring four points and having one block in five minutes. That’s what he finished the game with.

    Well done.

Now…no more losses to garbage teams if you please.
